Friendship Community Markets
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Community Markets will be running at the River Road end of the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets are run by the South Burnett Show Society and feature a great range of arts, crafts, fruit and garden stalls, plus unusual bric-a-brac - just perfect for last minute Christmas shopping! U19s Women's Rugby League Trial Game - Murgon
An U19s Women's Rugby League Trial Game for women born in 2002, 2003 or up to mid-2004 will be held at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street at 10:00am sharp this morning (arrive between 9:00am and 9:30am). The trial match will be a full contact game of 4 quarters and while jerseys will be supplied, players should BYO shorts, sox, boots, head gear, mouthguards etc. A trial squad will be selected from this game, so attendance is mandatory. Saturday Afternoon Social Bowls - Proston
The Proston Bowls Club in Murphy Way, Proston (just behind Proston Rural) will be holding a social bowls afternoon from 1:00pm today, and non-bowlers and new bowlers are particularly welcome - just wear soft-soled shoes or come barefoot (bowls will be available at the club). Trapper Ramke Celebration - Hivesville
A celebration of the life of Allan "Trapper" Ramke, the unofficial "Mayor Of Hivesville" who passed recently, will be held at the Hivesville Hotel in Main Road, Hivesville from 5:00pm until late this evening. Due to COVID-19, numbers will be limited, so you should reserve a spot by phoning Nicole on (07) 4168-9876
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Nanango Parkrun
The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's cricketers will be playing locally in Nanango, Murgon and Kumbia today. In A Grade, Murgon's Crusaders will be playing Gympie Valleys in the Grand Final of the 40 Over Competition. This match will be played at Kozminsky Oval in Gympie and will get underway at 12:30pm. In B Grade, the Nanango Scorpions will play Wooroolin Warriors at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street, Nanango; Cherbourg will play the Wondai Wolves at Murgon State High School in Gore Street, Murgon; and the Kumbia Rattlers will play Kingaroy Services at Kumbia cricket fields in Gordon Street, Kumbia. All B-grade matches will begin at 12:30pm and spectators are very welcome, but will need to observe proper social distancing.
Saturday Night With DJ Richter - Kingaroy
DJ Richter will be spinning the platters at Kingaroy's Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until late tonight - and he'll be running karaoke sessions as well if you feel like giving it a red hot go. Deal'n - Wondai
Local duo Deal'n will be performing at the Cecil Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 8:00pm until late tonight. Admission is free and the kitchen will be running if you need a feed. More details? Phone the hotel on (07) 4168-5460
Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today, with stallholders selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables through to arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks, foods and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Art Gallery's "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed) and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926. Note: Because of Christmas, the markets are running a week earlier than usual this month. They'll return to their normal 4th Saturday of the month slot in January.
