Good Friday
- Today is Good Friday, a public holiday. Most South Burnett business will either be closed today or operating on restricted hours. Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday are also public holidays.
Combined Church Service - Murgon
- The Barambah Ministers Association will be holding an open air Good Friday combined church service at QEII Park in Lamb Street, Murgon at 8:00am this morning. Everybody is welcome to join in. More details? Phone BMA secretary Greg Carle on 0499-775-022.
Good Friday Country Gospel - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy District Ministers Association will hold a free Good Friday Country Gospel concert at the Kingaroy Town Hall forecourt in Glendon Street at 6:00pm this evening. The concert will feature the Walmsley Brothers, but other artists will be performing as well. There'll also be a barbecue running if you get peckish. BYO chairs or a blanket.
Yarraman Walk Of Faith
- The annual inter-denominational "Yarraman Walk Of Faith" will be held in Yarraman today, commencing with a brief service at 10:00am at Our Lady Of Dolours Catholic church, then proceeding to St Phillips' Anglican Church and the Lutheran before concluding at the Uniting Church with tea, coffee and hot cross buns. This Good Friday walk - which has been running in Yarraman for decades - embraces all the town's churches, and everyone is welcome to attend this community celebration of Easter. An offering plate will be in place if you'd like to make a donation towards expenses, and transport will be available for those who are unable to undertake the walks between churches.
Maidenwell Running Festival
- The first day of the 3rd annual Maidenwell Running Festival (formerly known as the Maidenwell Marathon) will be held at Maidenwell today. As the name suggests, the Marathon is for runners and walkers and there will be 9 events over three days, ranging from 2.2km to a 56km ultra-marathon. Whatever your fitness or competitive level - and no matter whether you're walking or running - the festival has a distance to suit everyone. Today the Festival will kick off at the Maidenwell Sports Grounds at 1:00pm, where runners will have the choice of a half or full marathon course. And tonight, volunteers will be preparing a fish and salad meal in the Maidenwell Hotel's dining room for participants and guests. Free camping is available at the Sports Grounds if you'd like to stay the full weekend. Dirt, Bikes and Music - Boondooma
- Manar Park at 2252 Manar Road, Boondooma will be hosting "Dirt, Bikes and Music" over the Easter long weekend from, April 14-17. Events planned include Barrel Races, Flattrack, a Hillclimb Challenge, a Junior Mini Enduro Loop and an Enduro Loop Challenge. There'll also be food stalls, trade stalls and merchandise on site. All on-site accommodation and powered campsites at the 4WD and motorbike adventure park are already booked, but unpowered sites are still available and guests are welcome to bring their own generators.
