2017 Wine & Food In The Park Festival

The 18th annual Wine & Food In The Park Festival will be held at Memorial Park in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 12:00 noon this morning through to 8:00pm tonight. The Festival has steadily grown over the years the biggest single festival held in the South Burnett as well as the region's most loved Autumn get-together, and this year's WAFITP promises to be bigger and better than ever. A new "village-style" layout will be a big attraction at this year's event, blending local and visiting wineries in with the Festival's exotic Giant Food Court, and there'll also be jam-packed program of live entertainment. The Festival's popular - and usually outrageous! - street performers will also be wending their way through the crowds all day, and there'll be carnival rides for children on the grounds too. Admission is still just $20 per head for adults (under-18s can get in for free). And after the Festival winds down most local entertainment venues in Kingaroy will be holding post-WAFITP parties for revellers who want to carry on into the night. You can find out anything else you'd like to know about this year's Wine & Food In The Park Festival on the Festival's website.
59th Annual Proston Show
The 59th annual Proston Show will be held at Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road just west of town from 6:00am this morning through until late tonight. The Proston Show is always a big event in the western South Burnett and today's activities will get underway with horse-riding events, stud cattle judging and competitions for junior judges and young handlers shortly after the gates open. This will be followed a Championship Dog Show kicking off at around 8:30am; and then with show jumping, poultry judging and prime trade cattle judging at 9:00am. Then at 9:30am there'll be wood-chopping and post-ripping, including the famous Proston Post-Ripping Challenge that's always fun to see. This will be followed at 11:00am with the presentation of the Prime Trade Show Awards, and then the Proston Stockman's Classic at noon. The official opening will be held at 1:30pm and this will be followed by the Grand Parade at 2:00pm along with more award presentations, including Stud Beef Grand Champion. Other great things to look out for at this year's Show include a trade display area that's almost packed to capacity, dodgem cars, Willie the Worm, a slide and a jumping castle, face-painting and Viv's Farm animals. The evening's entertainment will include a fantastic Ute Muster with lots of extra categories, a Young Farmers' Challenge, live entertainment from Vanessa Lee and Highway 65 and a giant fireworks display. In addition, the Show Society will be running a canteen, BBQ and bar from 10:00am onwards. Admission to today's Show is just $10 for adults, $5 for high school students and $3 for primary school students (under-5s are admitted free). A family pass for two adults and any number of children is also available for $25. More details? Contact Show Society secretary Glenda McArdle on 0423-612-971 or by emailing her.
