Kingaroy Christmas Carnival Markets
This year's Kingaroy Christmas Carnival had to be cancelled due to pandemic restrictions, but its organising committee will be running a special Christmas Carnival Markets at the rear of the Broadway Hotel in Glendon Street, Kingaroy (opposite Shoppingworld) from 4:00pm to 8:00pm this afternoon and evening. Apart from market stalls, the event will feature the popular Xmas Ham Wheel and as many other Christmas Carnival attractions as can safely be squeezed in. Everyone is welcome and admission is free!
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
MBDA Breakfast Meeting
The Murgon Business and Development Association will be holding its final monthly meeting for 2020 at the Royal Hotel at the corner of Gore and Lamb Streets in Murgon at 6:30am this morning (entry is via Gore Street). The MBDA represents the interests of the businesses and community of Murgon and districts, and monthly meetings discuss new developments in the area and community projects the group are undertaking or considering. Breakfast is $19 per head and an RSVP to Margaret on 0413-488-418 by 3:00pm on Wednesday, December 9, would be greatly appreciated for catering purposes. All interested people are very welcome to attend.
Mayor's Christmas Catch-Up - Kumbia
South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto and Cr Scott Henschen will be holding a Christmas Catch-Up with Kumbia residents in the grounds of Kumbia Hall in Bell Street from 5:30pm to 7:30pm tonight to discuss plans for the town's revitalisation. All interested residents are invited to bring along chairs, nibbles and drinks for an informal get-together, and all ideas and concepts are welcome.
NaTDA Meeting - Nanango
The Nanango Tourism & Development Association will be holding its monthly dinner meeting in the Long Hai Room at the Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango at 5:30pm tonight. NaTDA aims to assist, foster, instigate and/or manage any project that could contribute to the advancement of the communities in and around Nanango, and represents the interests of the Nanango community, business and tourism operators. All interested people are very welcome to come along and get involved! Afterwards, the meeting will be followed by an informal, optional social dinner at the RSL's bistro. Thursday Night Croquet - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Croquet Club will be playing croquet games at the rear of the Kingaroy Cricket Club in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (just next to Beangrowers) from 6:30pm to around 8:30pm this evening. New members are always welcome and a $2 lesson is available if you'd like tuition in the basics (all equipment is supplied). More details? Phone (07) 4163-6022.
Skate Park Meeting - Goomeri
A public meeting will be held at the Goomeri Skate Park in Maudsley Street, Goomeri (next to the swimming pool) at 4:00pm to around 5:30pm this afternoon to look over Gympie Regional Council's plans to upgrade the facility. All skaters, riders and interested residents are welcome to attend. Interested people who can't attend in person but would like to give their input can also complete an online survey about features they'd like to see in the upgrade.
Thursday Night Yoga - Kingaroy
A one hour yoga class will be running at the South Burnett Enterprise Centre at 6 Cornish Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 7:00pm tonight. Class fees are "pay as you feel" and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone Phoebe on 0421-253-171
Wesleyan Food Hampers - Nanango
Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 8:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price ($40 for a trolley-full of grocery items, fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy products, or $30 without meat, to people facing financial difficulties.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Kingaroy every Thursday from 7:30pm at the "Biscuit Tin", behind St Mary's Church Hall, 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy. For more information, phone (07) 4162-5747.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). And anyone who's finding it hard to make ends meet is very welcome to make use of it. More details? Phone James on 0438-071-658.
