Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and routinely attract 250 to 300 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Bowling Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowling Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Burmese Support Gala Dinner - Kingaroy
A special Gala Dinner to raise funds to help Burmese people still suffering the effects of the devastating Cyclone Nargis (which hit the country's heavily populated Irrawaddy delta region in early May) will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:30pm until late tonight. Attendees can get to enjoy an authentic three course Burmese meal; be entertained by Burmese dancers and musicians; and hear prominent speakers talk about the relief efforts currently underway in the country (despite interference from the military junta) and what it's really like to live under the Burmese military regime. There'll also be a band and raffles. Tickets to the dinner are $30 per head and for catering purposes need to be booked be Wednesday 2nd July 2008. Dance - Blackbutt
Blackbutt's regular first Saturday of the month dance will be held at the Blackbutt Community Hall in Coulson Street at Blackbutt from 8:00pm until late this evening (doors open at around 7:30pm). Music for tonight's gathering will be supplied by The Soulmates and there'll be both Old Time and New Vogue numbers - something for everyone, really! A modest $8 admission fee applies (which includes supper) and there'll also be a lucky door prize, monte carlo prizes and a multi-draw raffle. Saturday Shooting - Wondai

A Grape Adventure At Captain's Paddock - Booie
Captain's Paddock Vineyard at 18 Millers Road in Booie (just north of Kingaroy near the Booie Range Distillery) will be running a Grape Adventure Tour in their vineyards at 9:30am this morning. For a slim $5 per head participants can enjoy a guided tour through the Paddock's vineyards where they'll get to learn about different grape varieties; the life-cycle of grape-growing and harvesting and the science that lies behind making spectacular modern wines (as well as do a little first-hand sampling too!). After the tour, visitors are welcome to stay for brunch at the Paddock's cellar door where they can enjoy coffee, cake, light meals and/or wines while they take in some lovely sweeping views down the Booie Range. Bethany Farm Tour - Kingaroy
Come and experience those famous pumpkin scones for yourself! John Bjelke-Petersen will conducting a tour of Kingaroy's most famous property - Bethany, the home of Sir Joh and Lady Flo - at 2:00pm this afternoon. Attendees will learn about the history of the area, hear anecdotes about John's parents and get to see Kingaroy and its surrounds from the highest hill in the district. After that they can return to the main homestead to taste-test the South Burnett scones that became world-famous! The all-inclusive price for the tour is $10 per person and bookings are essential to assist with catering. Locals as well as visitors are most welcome. More details?
