Murgon Christmas Fair
- The Murgon Business and Development Association will be staging Murgon's 23rd Annual Christmas Fair from 5:30pm until around 9:30pm this afternoon and evening in Lamb Street, Murgon. Highlights of this year's Christmas Fair include live entertainment from street performers, stage and roving entertainers; lots of inexpensive children's rides; heaps of food stalls and around $5,000 in prizes and giveaways to be won by lucky shoppers who've been patronising Murgon's Christmas Fair stores. As usual, Santa Claus will be making an appearance to delight the youngsters and pose for photographs with them between 6:00pm and 8:15pm, and the event will be professionally emceed too. Blackbutt Christmas Arts & Crafts Fair
- The 16th annual Blackbutt Christmas Festival will kick into gear at 8:00am this morning at Les Muller Park in Hart Street, Blackbutt when stands open for the annual Arts & Crafts Christmas Fair. The park will be packed with arts and crafts - just perfect for Christmas gifts! - and there'll also be food and drink stands operating in the grounds. In addition, there'll be an arts workshop running from 8:00am to 5:00pm if you'd like to try your hand at designing a tile for the Scott Haven complex. The Arts Fair will continue until around 6:00pm, and if you can't make it today the Fair will continue in the park from 8:00am to noon tomorrow morning. Admission is free and everyone is welcome! UPDATE: Because of rain, the Arts & Crafts Fair has been relocated to the pavilion area of the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road.
Great Summer Art Show Opening - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (just opposite the peanut silos) will be opening their Great Summer Art Show at 6:00pm this evening. The show features more than 80 original artworks submitted by members of the Kingaroy Art Team - four per artist - and they cover all media from oils to acrylics, and watercolours to pastels. Last month's photographic exhibition by Max Walters has also been so popular that it has been extended for an extra month, and it will be on display in the rear gallery. As usual, the opening will be accompanied by finger foods and punch, and everyone is welcome! Note: After tonight's opening the exhibition will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm weekdays, and 10:00am to 2:00pm on weekends and public holidays, until the end of January (closed on Christmas Day). Admission to view the exhibitions is free.
Friday Afternoon Scroungers - Nanango

Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
- The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:30pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Seniors Having A Ball - Murgon
- The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding a "Seniors Having A Ball" exercise class from 8:30am to 9:30am this morning. The program is designed to address the issues that many have with ageing and it's not just for seniors! It provides light exercise to keep the heart and joints moving, improving coordination and mobility. It also provides a beginner platform to start any fitness activity on. As well as physical fitness, it also has a fun social atmosphere too. The class fee is just $4 for PCYC members or $7 for non-members. More details? Kingaroy RSL Bingo

Connections Craft Group - Kingaroy
- The Connections Craft Group will be holding its weekly meeting at The Biscuit Tin behind St Mary's Church at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 12 noon this morning. - The Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar Highway north of the CBD will be holding a Sponsors Appreciation Night from 6:00pm this evening for all club sponsors and members.
Last Day Of School For 2016
- Today is the last day of school for 2016 for those children still attending (senior high school students get away a bit earlier than juniors to study for their important end-of-year exams). Reduced speed limits around schools will still apply today, but from tomorrow until near the end of January you'll be able to enjoy a 10 kph speed boost as you pass school grounds. State schools will resume for 2017 on Monday, January 23.
Kingaroy QCWA Meeting
- The Kingaroy branch of the QCWA will be holding their regular 2nd Friday of the month meeting at the QCWA Rooms in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy (just next to Kingaroy RSL) this morning. - The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding a Circuit Fitness Class from 4:30pm to 5:30pm this afternoon in their upstairs fitness studio. The class provides a great workout that will help increase strength as well as give you great cardio exercise, and the class fee is just $7 for PCYC members or $15 for non-members. More details? - Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers will be available for $20.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
