South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Relay For Life - Kingaroy
The South Burnett's 2021 Relay For Life event - a fundraiser for Cancer Council Queensland - will be held today at Kingaroy Showgrounds. This year's event will take on a slightly different form because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event will officially get under way at noon but will NOT run overnight. It will wind up at 8:00pm however all the traditional Relay For Life activities will still be included.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Wicked - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society will be presenting their third and fourth performances of the Broadway musical Wicked at Kingaroy's Performing Arts Centre at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 1:00pm this afternoon, and again at 7:00pm tonight. Wicked - based on the Wizard Of Oz - tells of the story of the conflict between Glinda The Good Witch and the Wicked Witch Of The West. The show debuted in 2003, and in 2019 became the 5th longest-running musical on Broadway, surpassing Les Miserables. It has also won three Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards and a Grammy for its original cast album. Tickets to today's performances are $20 for adults, $15 for children and $10 for pensioners, and they can be booked online or obtained at the door. Note: One final matinee performance will be held at 1:00pm tomorrow.
Saint Mary's Catholic College Garage Sale - Kingaroy
Saint Mary's Catholic College will be holding an unusual Garage Sale at the Maryknoll Centre inside the college's grounds in Kent Street, Kingaroy from 7:30am until around 11:30am this morning. Items up for grabs include student desks, chairs, lecture chairs, art trolleys, lockers, filing cabinets, sofa lounges and laptops, and EFTPOS facilties will be available onsite. Everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Western Performance Club Improvers Show
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be holding an Improvers Show at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 9:00am to around 4:30pm today. Judge Rosie Fyfe will be presiding over this PHAA-approved event, and new riders are very welcome (membership of the club is just $10 for participants). A canteen will be running throughout, with Saturday evening specials and a brekky available tomorrow morning as well. Spectators are very welcome to come along too, and there's no admission charge. Note: The club will also be holding an Open Show at the grounds tomorrow.
Nanango Stags 2021 Presentations
The Nanango Stags rugby league football club will be holding their end-of-season presentations at Fred Kassulke Oval off the D'Aguilar Highway south of the CBD from 10:00am to 1:00pm today. There'll also be a barbecue and slip'n'slide for the kids. All club members and supporters are very welcome!
Inverlaw Hall Spring Ball
The always-popular Inverlaw Dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late tonight, and this month it will be the dance's annual Spring Ball, with music supplied by Mystique. As always, there'll be the usual great supper and novelties along with a Lucky Door prize. Admission fees are just $10.00 for adults or $5.00 for high school students and everyone is welcome! Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. The weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango will start at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Proston Parkrun
The newly-formed Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Christmas Paint A Bale Competition - Kingaroy
Chrissy Trees 4 U at 328 Reedy Creek Road in Kingaroy will be running a "Paint A Bale" competition to raise funds for RACQ LifeFlight at their farm from 10:00am to 2:00pm today. For a gold coin donation, guests can enjoy a day of watching the painting of hay bales, viewing the reindeers and browsing 20-plus market stalls, as well as take a wander through the Christmas tree plantation and enjoy the season opening of the farm's Christmas Shop. Or for $53, they can purchase a hay bale and bring along their own gear to paint it to be in the running for some great prizes (tickets for this are availble online ). Everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Kids Art Loooong Landscapes - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the Wondai roundabout will be running a Kids Art Loooong Landscapes class from 10:00am to 11:30am this morning. Tyson Clancy - Kingaroy

Saturday Cricket - Kingaroy and Murgon
There's a big Saturday of cricket today, with Gympie A-Grade, South Burnett Seniors and South Burnett Juniors matches all in action. In Round 5 of the Gympie A-Grade Competition, Wooroolin Warriors will play the Gympie Royals at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 12 noon today, while the Murgon Crusaders will go head to head with Gympie's Harlequins at Kozminsky Oval in Gympie (also starting at noon). In the first round of the season's SB Seniors competition, Wooroolin Vikings will play Murgon at Kingaroy State School; Kingaroy Services will play Wooroolin Colts at Taabinga State School; and Cherbourg will play Nanango Scorpions at Murgon State High School (all seniors matches start at 12:30pm). Finally - in Stage 2 Juniors - Kingaroy Westlink will play Nanango Scorpions at the River Road Oval at 8:00am, while Kingaroy Wamuran Timbers have the bye. And in Stage 3 Juniors, Kingaroy Warriors will play Murgon at Taabinga State School, and Kingaroy Vikings will play Nanango Scorpions at Kingaroy State School (both matches start at 8:00am). Spectators are welcome at all games.
DJ Richter - Wondai

SOLD OUT: The Nanango Panthers Football Club will be celebrating their 40th birthday with a reunion dinner for current and past players and officials at Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango from 6:00pm until late tonight. Admission is by ticket only, but all seats have now been sold out.
