Bookarama - Kingaroy
The Taabinga Rotary Club will be holding the second (and final) day of their giant two-day Bookarama at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am to noon today. Bookarama offers tens of thousands of books on all subjects at genuine bargain prices (ie $1 to $3). There'll also be an all-day sausage sizzle and raffles running as well, if you get hungry or fancy a flutter. Proceeds of Bookarama go to help worthwhile local causes supported by Taabinga Rotary and if you love books, Bookarama is heaven on a stick. Everyone is welcome and admission is free!
Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? Phone Richie on 0427-133-408
Kilkivan Great Horse Ride
The third (and final) day of the 3-day Kilkivan Great Horse Ride will be held around Kilkivan today, kicking off at 8:00am with a junior and senior Stockman's Challenge at the Kilkivan Showgrounds at 66 Mudlo Road that will run until late afternoon. Entry to the Showgrounds today is $10 per adult and everyone is welcome. You can also get more information on the Kilkivan Great Horse Ride website
Sunday Poker - Kingaroy
Sunday afternoon poker games will be played at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. Registrations start at 2:00pm and play begins at 2:30pm. All games are free to play and there are prizes for first, second and third. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Mountain Bike Club Ride - Nanango
The South Burnett Mountain Bike Club will be holding a ride through the Nanango forestry this morning, departing from the Nanango BP on the D'Aguilar Highway south of the CBD at 7:30am (for a 7:45am roll-off) and returning around 9:30am for a sausage sizzle and cold drinks, which will be available for $2 each. There's no charge to take part in the ride and new riders are always very welcome - just BYO bike and riding gear - and you can get more details by phoning Jason on 0474-879-229.
Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Queensland Road Race Championships - Kingaroy
Several roads around Kingaroy will be closed today for the Queensland Road Race Championships, which will be held in Kingaroy between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Hundreds of professional cyclists are taking part in this event, and spectators are welcome to come along to Somerset Street - the finish line - to watch the action for free. South Burnett Western Performance Club Show Day - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be holding a Show Day at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango between 9:00am and noon this morning. Today's event is primarily for the beginners and improver classes. Spectators are also welcome to come along and watch the action for free.
Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Carol Chaney CD Launch - Blackbutt
Entertainer Carol Chaney will be launching her new CD at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 1:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon, supported by her friends Les, Paul, John, Wayne and Jeanette. Admission is $5, guests are welcome to BYO alcohol, and an afternoon tea will be available, too.
Orienteering Championships - Reedy Creek
The second (and final) day of the Queensland Orienteering Long Distance Championships will be held at Minmore Homestead at Reedy Creek near Kingaroy today. More than 110 adult and junior competitors will be competing in various classes, covering distances ranging from 2400m to 13,200m across 12 different courses. Today's events will get underway at 9:00am and awards will be handed out this afternoon. Spectators are welcome. You can read more about this event on our website.
Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today.
