South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Blackbutt History Morning
The Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association will be holding a History Morning at Nukku Nook opposite the skate park in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 9:30am to around 12:00 noon today. This month's special guest will be John Eastmann, the new owner of the historic Stonehouse at Moore. John will discuss the fascinating history of this heritage-listed former pioneer homestead, which was built between 1874 and 1888 and was once an important stop-over point for coach travellers and riders coming to the South Burnett. Kingaroy Cuppa & Chat Group
The Cuppa and Chat Group will be holding its weekly meeting at The Biscuit Tin behind St Mary's Church at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 10:00am to around 11:00am this afternoon. As the name suggests, members enjoy a cuppa and biscuits baked in the community kitchen, and simply chat about whatever interests them. More details? Kingaroy RSL Bingo

Kingaroy QCWA Meeting
The Kingaroy branch of the QCWA will be holding their regular second Friday of the month meeting at the QCWA Rooms in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy (just next to Kingaroy RSL) from 9:30am to around 12:00 noon this morning. Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Rugby League Girls Gala Tour - Kingaroy
The NRL's Game Development Office will be running a free "Girls Gala Tour" session at Kingaroy's T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street from 6:00pm to around 7:30pm this evening for girls aged 9-12 who think they might be interested in playing women's rugby league. International Women's Day Brekkie and High Tea - Nanango
Historic Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango will be marking International Women's Day (which occurs today) with a Pancake Breakfast from 6:30am to 8:30am this morning, followed by a High Tea from 10:00am to noon. The brekkie will offer a selection of pancakes, yoghurts and fresh fruit plus your choice of juice, tea or coffee for $18 per head; and the High Tea an indulgent assortment of three ribbon sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, a pastry and petit fours for $25 per head. Proston Show
The annual Prosaton Show will get underway at the Proston Showgrounds on the Proston-Boondooma Road west of town at 4:00pm this afternoon with a Prime Young Judges competition, followed by the Young Farmers Challenge at 5:00pm. Admission to view either of today's events is free - the Show's main public day will occur tomorrow.
Maidenwell Folk Gathering
The first day of the twice-a-year Maidenwell Folk Gathering will be held in and around the historic Maidenwell Hotel in Maidenwell today, kicking off at around 1:00pm and running late into the night. This is an all-acoustic event and a variety of performers will be entertaining on the hotel's balconies and inside rooms. Admission to the Folk Gathering is completely free and musicians are welcome as well as people who just like to listen to music. There's also free overnight camping available in the hotel's grounds. International Women's Day Lunch - Kingaroy
The Kumbia Kindy will be hosting an International Women's Day Lunch at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street Kingaroy from 11:00am (for an 11:40am start) to around 2:00pm today. Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price to people facing financial difficulties.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
