110th Annual Kingaroy Show
The second (and final) day of the two-day 2017 Kingaroy Show will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 8:30am this morning when show jumping gets underway in the Main Ring right through until late tonight. Today the Show will feature vintage tractor and chainsaw displays; free Wagon Rides; displays of chainsaw ripping; chainsaw sculpting; Tractor Pulls; and a lot more besides. There'll also be a jaw-dropping Sideshow Alley that's always the biggest in the region. Tickets to today's Show are $10 for adults and $8 for young people aged 12-17 (under-12s can get in for free). Sunday Poker - Kingaroy
Sunday afternoon poker games will be played at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. Registrations start at 2:00pm and play begins at 2:30pm. All games are free to play and there are prizes for first, second and third. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Maidenwell Markets
If you're heading up to the Bunya Mountains today, go via Maidenwell and you can browse the Maidenwell Markets at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (just next to the Rural Fire Brigade HQ in the heart of town) between 8:00am and 12:00 noon this morning. These markets offer a range of arts and crafts, local produce, plants, home baking, bric-a-brac, sauces, jams, chutneys, coffee, food and lots more (there's even a jumping castle for children). Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Golden Spurs Campdraft - Proston
The second (and final) day of the ACA affiliated 2017 Golden Spurs Campdraft will be held at the Proston Showgrounds west of town on the Proston-Boondooma Road from early this morning until late this afternoon. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Timbertowns Woodworkers Meeting - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Auskart Racing - Nanango
South Burnett Kart Hire on the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango's CBD will be hosting the second (and final) day of the Auskart Racing go kart series today. Spectators are welcome to come along and watch the action from 9:30am, but no karts will be available for hire until the event concludes around noon. Food and drinks will be available at the canteen and EFTPOS will be available.
BYO 25km Horse Ride - Yarraman
Horsetrax Oz will be holding a BYO 25km horse ride around the Yarraman area for a maximum of three riders today. The ride will depart from Yarraman at 10:00am and travel along forestry tracks until smoko. The cost of the ride is $22.50 (to cover insurance) and participants should bring along their own smoko. The ride is suitable for advanced intermediate riders and has some hills. It's also a walk-only ride, and because the trail has some sections on gravel road, boots or shoes are recommended. 85th Annual Kingaroy Eisteddfod
The seventh day of the 85th annual Kingaroy Eisteddfod will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy today. The Eisteddfod will be judging Solos/Duos/Trios dance entries, which will continue daily until next Friday, May 12th. Spectators are very welcome.
Wondai Home Produce Share
The monthly Wondai Home Produce Share will be held outside Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai's CBD from 9:00am to about 10:30am this morning. The share is for people who have excess home produce they would like to swap or gift to others (non-food items can also be swapped) and the event has been organised by the South Burnett Permaculture group.
