Blackbutt Christmas Festival Arts & Crafts Fair and Food Fiesta
The second-last day of week long, 14th annual Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club Christmas Festival will kick into gear at 9:00am this morning at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt when the hall's doors open for the annual annual Arts & Crafts Fair, which run until 9:00pm tonight (and also from 8:30am to 12:30pm tomorrow). The Arts & Crafts Fair is a perfect opportunity to pick up unique, unusual and inexpensive Christmas gifts and this year it's being sponsored by Bendigo Bank's Blackbutt, Yarraman and Nanango branches, so admission is free. This year there'll also be an Outdoor Food Fiesta running from 6:00pm to 9:00pm offering exotic and yiummy foods for dinner, along with a licensed bar, live entertainment by John Harvey and Christmas carol singing. Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their final monthly exhibition for 2014 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting a first for the region: a completely custom-built "living artwork" by Tingoora artist Robyn Dower and her sister Kay Gorring which recreates the "Wonder" cottage central to the pair's "A Sense Of Wonder" stories (you can read these stories on our website). The Gallery has been closed all this week while Robyn and Kay have assembled the exhibition, but when it opens tonight it will feature the usual refreshments and live entertainment that have made the Gallery's monthly openings "must dos" on many people's social calendars all year. Junior Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy
The final bi-monthly Junior Blue Light Disco for 2014 will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Entry to the Junior Disco is restricted to young people aged 14 and below who can produce their student ID, and in addition to a fun night out tonight's disco will also have some great prizes to be won as well. Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. Annual Christmas Remembrance Service RSVP Deadline
Today is the last day you can RSVP to attend Virgo Funerals' Annual Christmas Remembrance Service which will be held in the chapel of the Souith Burnett Crematorium in Kingaroy next Wednesday, December 10 (see entry that day for all details)
Sempf Sisters - Kingaroy

Yarraman Kindy Pool Party
The Yarraman Kindergarten will be holding a Pool Party at both the Yarraman and Blackbutt swimming pools from 5:00pm to around 7:00pm this evening as a fundraiser. There'll be competitions with prizes to be won, and food and drinks available at both venues. Men's Shed - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be open from 9:00am to 12:00 noon and 2:00pm to 4:00pm today behind the Salvation Army's headquarters at 44 Alford Street in Kingaroy. The shed is open to all men who'd enjoy the companionship of other men while undertaking woodwork, metalwork or similar projects or who'd just enjoy a chat. More details? Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular weekly Social Competition Night from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. This is a 3-a-side event with a $5 playing fee, and a fully licensed bar will be operating along with raffles. New players are always very welcome, and the club caters for all skill levels from novice to expert. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
