Father's Day
Today is the first Sunday in September: Father's Day, the counterpoint to Mother's Day and probably the one time of the year that thoughtful children make their Dad breakfast in bed, get him his iPad so he can read the Sunday news and then stay well out of his hair for at least an hour or two (especially if he was out celebrating last night). If you want to give your Dad a special treat today there are several fun things happening around our region you can take him along to, and there's sure to be something to please him no matter what his interests. Here's what they are:
Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Yarraman Country Music Friends
The Country Music Friends will be holding their first Sunday of the month informal concert at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street from 1:00pm this afternoon. Linville Markets

Sunday Poker - Kingaroy

Father's Day Luncheon - Murgon
The Royal Hotel at the corner of Lamb and Gore Streets in Murgon will be hosting a Father's Day Lunch from noon to around 2:00pm today. Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Open Mic Jam Session & Social Bowls - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Bowls Club in Crescent Street, Kilkivan will be holding an Open Mic Jam Session hosted by Karen Thomsen from 12:00 noon to around 4:00pm today. Sunday Breakfast Buffet - Hivesville
The Hivesville Hotel in Main Street, Hivesville will be running an all-you-can-eat Breakfast Buffet from 8:30am to 10:30am this morning to celebrate Fathers Day. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Showies struggling to survive the cancellation of this year's Ekka will be putting on a mini Ekka at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from noon to 8:00pm today featuring show foods, amusement rides and showbags. Entry is just $2 and everyone is welcome!
Father's Day Lunch - Bunya Mountains
The Bunya Mountains Tavern in The Bunyas at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains will be holding a special Father's Day Lunch with whisky tastings from noon today. For $75 per head, guests can enjoy whisky tastings at Shackleton's Whisky Bar with a welcome drink on arrival, followed by a special Father's Day lunch menu offering a choice of four mains. Antique Car Rally, BBQ And Bar - Kumbia
An antique car rally club has been touring the South Burnett this weekend, and today they'll be holding a public BBQ and bar at Kumbia's Memorial Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia so members of the public can inspect the vehicles up close and meet the drivers. The club was originally going to be part of the inaugural Kumbia Country Festival, but when the pandemic forced its cancellation they thought they'd come anyway. Approximately 30 cars and the Shannon's truck will be turning up around noon today and everyone is very welcome!
Alex The Frenchman - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett entertainer Alex The Frenchman will be performing in the beer garden of the Carrollee Hotel in King Street, Kingaroy today as part of the hotel's Fathers Day Lunch offering. However, bookings are essential: (07) 4162-1055
