Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai

The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2016 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting the annual South Burnett High School Art Competition which will feature works by Juniors (Years 7-9) and Seniors (Years 10-12), along with a 2D division (paintings) and a 3D division (for sculpture, pottery and papier mache). First, second and third prizes will be awarded in all sections, and a perpetual trophy will be awarded to the winning school. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Clovely Estate, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Regional Karaoke Sing-Off - Wondai

The final heat of the Wondai Show Society's brand new Regional Karaoke Sing-Off will be held at the Warana Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai tonight. This new competition is searching for the best karaoke singers in the region, and they'll be in the running to win $2500 in cash prizes at this year's Wondai Show. The competition is open to anyone and if you want to take part, you'll need to register at the Warana between 6:00pm and 7:30pm, after which the sing-offs will run until late. Meals will be available at the hotel, too, if you race in early - their new bistro menu will debut at 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:30pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding a "Seniors Having A Ball" exercise class from 8:30am to 9:30am this morning. The program is designed to address the issues that many have with ageing and it's not just for seniors! It provides light exercise to keep the heart and joints moving, improving coordination and mobility. It also provides a beginner platform to start any fitness activity on. Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers will be available for $20.

South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy

The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
