112th Annual Kingaroy Show & Speedway

The second day of the two-day 2019 Kingaroy Show will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 8:00am this morning through until around 4:00pm this afternoon when the Kingaroy Speedway will roar into life. In addition to the usual big range of horse and cattle events, this year's Show will feature the Barnyard Chook Show for children in the poltry pavilion, along with a guinea pig show, face painting, a puppet show and an animal farm in the grounds; Mini Horses; a vintage tractor and chainsaw displays; V8 Modified Tractor Sled Pulls; a big display of caged birds from the Burnett Birdkeeper's Association; specialty food vans; and a lot more besides. There'll also be a jaw-dropping Sideshow Alley that's always the biggest in the region. Single day tickets to today's Show are $15 for adults and $10 for children aged 12-17 (under-12s can get in for free), which include free entry to this evening's Speedway (normally $25) which kicks off at 5:00pm. Mothers Day Fashion Parade - Nanango
Sassy Mumma Fashion and Accessories at the corner of Drayton and Henry Streets, Nanango will be holding a Fashion Parade at their store from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon to mark Mothers Day, which falls next Sunday. Refreshments will be served and tickets are just $5, with all proceeds going to aid the Butter Factory Park Inclusive Playground project. Tickets can be obtained in advance from Sassy Mumma or Nanango Real Estate, or at the door today.
Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. R&R Rail Trail Duathlon - Blackbutt
Blackbutt will be playing host to more than 150 extra visitors today. They'll be taking part in the 6th annual R&R Rail Trail Duathlon - a series of running and cycling athletic contests that will take place on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Competitors in the duathlon come from all over south east Queensland to participate, and racing will get underway early this morning and conclude towards lunch time. Country Music Friends - Yarraman
The Country Music Friends will be holding their first Sunday of the month informal concert at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street from 1:00pm this afternoon. New players are very welcome and you can obtain more details by phoning Jenny on (07) 4163-2469.
Bantam Show - Murgon
The Murgon & District Bantam Club will be holding their iunaugural Bantam Show in the poultry pavilion at Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon from 8:30am (when all birds need to be caged for judging) to around 3:00pm this afternoon. There'll be all sorts of bantams on display - both soft feather and hard feather varieties - along with a canteen serving breakfast, morning teas and lunches, with free coffee and tea available all day. Exhibitors are coming from all over south east Queensland for the show, which is the first of its kind in the region. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Sunday Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway south-west of town will be hosting a visit from Nudgee golfers today, and will be holding a single stableford for men and women as part of an interclub competition. There'll be a shotgun start at 11:00am and green fees are $30 for golf and the dinner that will follow afterwards. For catering purposes, names need to be in by April 29. More details? Big Rosella Festival - Woolooga
The 4th annual Big Rosella Festival will be held a Petersen's Farm at 2 Reilly Road, Woolooga from 9:00am to 4:00pm today. The festival celebrates all things connected to Rosellas and features farm tours, cooking demonstrations with South Burnett Food Ambassador Jason Ford, James Bowden from Charlie's Hotel in Gympie, Valerie Ferdinands from My Kitchen Rules and CC Diaz-Petersen from CC's Kitchen, along with farm talks, fresh produce, CC's Kitchen products, fun and games, food stalls and lucky door prizes. Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning.
