South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Mingle, Munch & Win - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt & District Tourism and Heritage Association (BDTHA) will be holding a Mingle, Munch & Win morning at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 10:00am today. The $5 entry fee includes morning tea, a Lucky Door ticket and a Loot Bounty ticket and through the course of the morning there'll also be a Mini Cent Auction, Grocery Grab and Meat Tray raffles along with a Treasure Chest prize, Dolly Parton bingo, balloon popping for prizes and a lot more. Everyone is welcome!
Cent Auction - Moore
The Kilcoy QCWA will be holding a Cent Auction at the Moore Soldiers Hall on the D'Aguilar Highway at Moore today. Doors open at 9:00am and play will start at 10:00am. The $5 entry fee includes a lucky door and a sheet of tickets, along with tea or coffee and a biscuit or two to go with it (a lunch of soup and a sausage sizzle will be available as well). There'll be 110 prize draws through the course of the day - 55 before lunch and 55 afterwards - along with raffles and a money board. Everyone is welcome!
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Kingaroy Chiropractic Open Day
Kingaroy Chiropractic's new owners, who have taken over the business at the corner of Haly and William streets, Kingaroy, will be holding an Open Day from 9:00am to noon this morning. There'll be a free barbecue running and everyone is welcome to drop in and have a look around.
Cooyar Spit Roast
The Cooyar Hotel on the New England Highway at Cooyar will be holding their latest Spit Roast Night for 2022 in the Outback Bar behind the pub from 6:00pm (when serving starts) until late tonight. The cost is $25 per head for a great two-course spit roast buffet feed along with live music from Virjilla Joyce (who'll be playing from 2:00pm to 6:00pm) plus fire drums to stay warm - but seating is limited so a booking is essential: (07) 4692-6185. There's also free camping nearby if you'd like to stay over.
Railway Parkrun
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Alex The Frenchman - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett entertainer Alex The Frenchman will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
The Marshall Brothers - Maidenwell

Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 8:00am until around 1:00pm today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am and continuing on until noon. Summertime 365 - Kingaroy
Well-known pop, rock and country cross-over artist Jade Holland will be bringing her latest touring show Summertime 365 to the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until late tonight. Jade has been touring Australia, the US, the Middle East and Canada since 2016 and her two albums and eleven singles make her one of Australia’s hardest working music artists. Everyone is welcome! Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Western Performance Club Beginners Show - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be holding a Beginners Show at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 9:00am to around 4:30pm today. A qualified judge will be presiding over this PHAA-approved event, and new riders are very welcome (membership of the club is just $10 for participants). A canteen will be running throughout and spectators are very welcome to come along too - there's no admission charge.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Kingaroy Red Ants Pink Day
This weekend's local league competition will be played at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, as part of the Red Ants' annual Pink Day to raise funds for breast cancer research. Apart from a jam-packed day of rugby league, the get-together will also be offering fun games, a bake stall, raffles, a $100 board, bar, canteen and a donation tin at the gate for those who want to contribute more than the $2 entry fee. Rugby league action will get underway at 8:00am with U8s and U10s games on Field 2 and U6s and U8s games running on Field 3. On the main field, U12s matches will be played from 8:00am and they'll be followed with an U14s match (Kingaroy vs Cherbourg) at 11:20am; then an U16s match (South Burnett vs Brothers) at 12:20pm; then U15s (South Burnett vs Brothers) at 1:30pm; and then another U14s match (Murgon vs Dalby) at 2:40pm. After this, the first A-grade match of the day between the Wondai Wolves and Cherbourg Hornets will get underway at 3:40pm, and this will be followed by a clash between the Kingaroy Red Ants and Murgon Mustangs at 5:10pm. Saturday AFL - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints men's and women's teams will be playing at home at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (next to Beangrowers) today. Both teams will be contesting Round 7 of the Darling Downs competition. At 12:45pm, the Saints women take on Dalby, and they'll be followed by the men's squad taking on Dalby's men at 2:30pm. A bar and canteen will be operating on the grounds and spectators are very welcome.
Hivesville Progress Association Meeting
The Hivesville Progress Association will be holding a general meeting at Memorial Park opposite the Hivesville Hotel in Main Street at 5:00pm tonight. All interested people are welcome to attend.
Yarraman Festival
The annual Yarraman Festival - which was originally scheduled to be held today - has been postponed a month to July 2. The festival is part of the BVRT's annual Festival Of Cycling, and this event has also been postponed due to recent wet weather which damaged the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.
Kingaroy Men's Shed
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
