Nanango Race Club Easter Saturday Race Meeting
The Nanango Race Club will be holding their popular annual Crow-FM Easter Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 12:30pm to around 4:30pm this afternoon. Today's meeting will have a "Floaty Frocks and Polka Dots" theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field prizes. There'll also be spot prizes if you dress up in an Easter theme (eg: bunny ears, tails or a great Easter bonnet) and free Easter eggs for children too. The club's popular Pink Champagne bar will be running all day, and there'll also be a licensed bar and BBQ operating under the extended covered area; plus bookmakers and an on-course tote where even losing punters' tickets can win a pize. A lot of people like to use the Easter Race Meeting for long weekend parties, and you can picnic on the lawns or even bring your own marquee. This will be a 5-race meeting buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and the Nanango RSL at 12:30pm. Gates will open at the track itself at around 10:00am so that go-getters can get a head start on that all-important socialising. Admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under-15s are free) and everyone is welcome! More details? Phone Rosemary on (07) 4163-2346. PS: If you've never been to the Nanango Races before, you can get an idea of what a fun day out they are by reading our report of the club's last meeting in February 2015.
Kumbia Charity Campdraft
POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER The first day of the two-day Kumbia & District Charity Campdraft will be held at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds off Bell Street in Kumbia from early this morning when the canteen opens and begins serving up Big Country Breakfasts through until late this afternoon. Admission to the campdraft is 100% free for spectators and this evening there'll be a dinner and dessert on offer, as well as entertainment and a licensed bar open until midnight. There's also free overnight camping in the Sportsgrounds all weekend if you want to stay over. Everyone is welcome!
Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup Games - Kingaroy

The U16s match will kick off at 10:00am and the U18s match at 11:30am. Of particular interest, two Kingaroy boys - Kirby Rubesaame and Logan Bayliss-Brow - will be playing in the U16s reps squad, and they're the only South Burnett players in the matches, so they'd appreciate your support. Total Lunar Eclipse
A total lunar eclipse will occur in the South Burnett's skies between 8:00pm and 10:00pm tonight - the last one we'll see until 2018. The eclipse will begin with a slight darkening of the moon at 8:00pm, and the shadow of the Earth will steadily lengthen over the moon's face until it is fully in shadow at around 9:00pm. Then the Earth's shadow will start to slowly withdraw again. The moon will also take on a reddish tinge as the eclipse progresses (the darker the red, the more pollution there is in the Earth's atmosphere). Providing the sky is reasonably clear, the best way to see the eclipse close up is through an SLR camera or compact camera mounted on a tripod, or binoculars. A hand-held camera is another choice, though not as good.
Spit Roast Saturday At The Wondai

Australian Sports Rotorcraft Association Nationals - Wondai
More than $2 million worth of gyrocopters will be paying a visit to Wondai Airport over the Easter weekend to take part in the four-day Australian Sports Rotorcraft Association (ASRA) Nationals. The event kicked off yesterday and won't finish until late on Monday. Last year over 25 gyrocopters came to Wondai Airport, and this year organisers hope to see even more. The event is hosted by the South East Queensland Gyroplane Club, assisted by the Barambah District Aero Club and the South Burnett Regional Council. And if you're interested in gyrocopters (small one or two-person helicopters that are often assembled from kits), this Easter weekend is a perfect opportunity to see them close up and talk with the men and women who fly them for fun. Joy rides are often available too, for a modest fee. Wondai Airport is located not far from the Proston turn-off north of Wondai on the D'Aguilar Highway. You can also read more about what last year's ASRA Nationals were like on our website.
