Goomeri Pumpkin Festival
The 19th Annual Goomeri Pumpkin Festival will be held in Goomeri from 6:00am this morning through until around 5:00pm this afternoon. As usual, the 2015 Pumpkin Festival will feature a wide range of market and novelty stalls; all-day live entertainment; Giant Pumpkin and Best Decorated Pumpkin competitions; and the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll down Policeman's Hill at around 2:00pm in the afternoon with a Lucky Spot prize of $1000 and lots of other cash prizes for section winners. Other things to look out for include cooking demonstrations; live entertainment; antique car and bike displays; billy tea, damper and stew in Dickinson Park (along with an all-day BBQ and lots and lots of food stalls); market stalls in the streets; roving entertainers; and more. Maidenwell Markets
If you're heading up to the Bunya Mountains today, go via Maidenwell and you can browse the new Maidenwell Car Boot Sales And Market Stalls at the Maidenwell Sportsgrounds (just next to the Rural Fire Brigade HQ in the heart of town). These markets offer car boot sales plus a variety of market stalls selling various goods and wares, including wood fired pizza, fruit and veg, plants, face painting, jams and pickles, cakes, bric-a-brac, books and second hand goodies, crafts and lots more. Stallholder/Car boot fees are just $10 each, payable on day, and all proceeds go to the Maidenwell Community Group for the development of the township. Seafood Sunday - Bunya Mountains
If you're looking for something great to do this weekend, Lyrics Restaurant at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains - just behind the Bunya Mountains General Store - will be holding their monthly "Seafood Sunday" from 11:00am onwards today (lunch will be served from around noon). The fully-licensed restaurant will be offering a 100% fresh seafood a-la-carte menu, serving seafoods obtained from the coast yesterday - and be warned! The serving sizes are h-u-g-e. Bunya Mountains Markets
The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will also be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas (as well as Seafood Sunday at Lyrics licensed restaurant - see entry above), and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park.
Saint Mary's Catholic College Combined Anniversary Celebrations
Saint Mary's Catholic College will be marking three major anniversaries this weekend: the opening of St Mary's Convent School in 1929; its expansion into St Mary's Secondary College in 1965; and the unveiling of its current form - St Mary's Catholic College - in 1990. Today the school will be holding wrapping up the celebrations with a big Open Day at the College between 10:00am and 2:00pm featuring memorabilia displays, school tours, the interment of a time capsule, and much more. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy

Open Mic Afternoon At The Broadway - Kingaroy
The Broadway Hotel in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy will be holding an Open Mic Jam Session from 2:00pm to around 7:00pm this afternoon, hosted by Mr Q. Anyone is welcome to put their name up on the blackboard and - when their turn comes - to perform up to 20 minutes of originals or covers. All PAs, guitars and drums will be provided by Mr Q. The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Kingaroy Lions Trail Ride - Chahpingah
The second (and final) day of the weekend-long Kingaroy Lions Trail Ride will be held at at 'Minmore' at Chahpingah, 36km west of Kingaroy, from 8:00am this morning through until late this afternoon (look for the signs off the Bunya Highway past the Kingaroy Golf Club). This annual 2-day event is a fundraiser for the Kingaroy Lions and Careflight and last year attracted more than 600 riders. It's a non-competitive trail ride open to all classes of dirt bikes (no quads) and today it will feature the famous 55Km Sandy Creek loop. A novice and Pee Wee circuits will also be in operation. Free camping is available with hot showers and toilets, as well as on-site food catering through to lunchtime today. Everyone is welcome! More details? The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning.
