South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
St Patrick's Quiz Night - Nanango
St Patrick's Catholic School in Alfred Street, Nanango will be holding its annual Quiz Night from 6:00pm until late this evening (questions start at 6:30pm sharp). Play will take place in teams of 6 to 8, and guests are encouraged to dress up in costumes celebrating local businesses or organisations for maximum enjoyment. Registration fees are $10 per player and there'll be team table nibbles, but you should BYO alcohol plus gold coins for the money boards and toss game. Everyone is welcome - the night is a fundraiser for the school's P&F - and you can obtain more details by phoning (07) 4163-1555
Moffatdale State School P&C Golf Day - Murgon
Moffatdale State School P&C will be holding their annual Golf Day at the Murgon Golf Club on the Bunya Highway south of the CBD from noon today. This 3-person ambrose will get underway with a shotgun start at 1:00pm and the $20 playing fee includes a burger prior to the start. All golfers are welcome, but to help plan the catering an RSVP is required. You can make one by phoning the school on (07) 4168-4724.
Canapes By The Creek - Kilkivan
Kilkivan State School P&C will be hosting Canapes By The Creek at the Kilkivan Showgrounds at 66 Mudlo Road, Kilkivan from 6:30pm until around midnight tonight. This cocktail-style affair will offer guests complimentary wine and beer until 8:30pm; gourmet canapes prepared by celebrity chef Matt Golinski; and live entertainment by Chordless. Tickets are $120 per head and a bus will also be available to transport guests from (and back to) Gympie for an additional fee. Tickets can be booked online.
Halloween Party - Yarraman
A Halloween Party will be held at the Royal Hotel on the D'Aguilar Highway in Yarraman from 6:00pm until late tonight. Guests at this 18-plus event are encouraged to dress up in their best Halloween costumes and dance the night away with a guest DJ. More details? Phone the Royal on (07) 4163-8219.
White Party At Dusk - Kingaroy
Kingsley Grove Estate at 49 Stuart Valley Drive in Goodger will be holding a White Party At Dusk Long Table Dinner to celebrate Hallkoween from 6:00pm to around 10:00pm this evening. Guests at this event can enjoy a three course dinner surrounded by fairy lights and the open night sky, along with live music from Steve Peterson and a complimentary drink on arrival. Yarraman Men's Shed

The Fitzroy Hotel in Fitzroy Street, Nanango will be running a "Haunted Hotel Scary Night Party" from 9:00pm until late tonight. The Kingaroy Library in Glendon Street will be marking Halloween with a Spooky Saturday for young children and their families from 9:00am to noon this morning. The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Road To Victory Art Exhibition - Murgon
Talented Bundaberg watercolour artist Ross Driver will be unveiling a collection of 35 combat-themed artworks ("Road To Victory") at Murgon RSL's Welfare Drop-In Centre at 44 Stephens Street West in Murgon at 5:00pm this afternoon. A highlight of today's opening will be the unveiling of Ross' most recent work - a portrait of Murgon local Harry Latham - and the event will include wine, cheese and light refreshments. Everyone is welcome!
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Murgon Show Rodeo
UPDATE CANCELLED: Murgon's popular annual rodeo - which was postponed earlier this year due to pandemic restrictions - will be held at the Goomeri Showgrounds in Laird Street, Goomeri today. Gates will open at 2:00pm and bull riding will commence at 3:00pm. A bar and burgers will be available on site and everyone is welcome!
Saturday Cricket - Nanango, Kingaroy, Wondai & Murgon
There's another big Saturday of cricket today with Gympie A-Grade, South Burnett Seniors and South Burnett Juniors matches all in action. In Round 8 of the Gympie A-Grade Competition, Murgon Crusaders will play Gympie Valleys at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street, while the Wooroolin Warriors will play the Gympie Harlequins at Kozminsky Oval in Gympie (both matches start at noon). And in the fourth round of the South Burnett Seniors competition, Wondai will play the Wooroolin Colts at the Wondai Cricket Grounds; Kingaroy Services will play Cherbourg at Taabinga State School; and Nanango will play Murgon at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street (all at 12:30pm) while the Wooroolin Vikings have the bye. Finally, in Juniors, Kingaroy Pineview Brangus will play Kingaroy Wamuran Timbers and Kingaroy Westlink will play Nanango at the River Road pitch in Stage 2 from 8:30am and 1:00pm; and in Stage 3, Nanango Mixed will play Kingaroy Mixed at the Wondai Cricket Grounds. Spectators are very welcome at all games.
Halloween Party With Deal'N - Wondai
The Cecil Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai will be holding a Halloween Party with live music from local duo Deal'N from 7:30pm until late tonight.
