Nanango Race Club Autumn Meeting
The Nanango Race Club will be holding their popular annual Autumn Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 12:30pm to around 4:30pm this afternoon. Today's meeting will have a "Vivid Velvet & Vintage" theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field spot prizes. The club's popular Pink Champagne Bar will be running all day, and there'll also be a licensed bar and BBQ operating under the extended covered area; plus bookmakers and an on-course tote where even losing punters' tickets can win a pize. A lot of people like to use the Autumn Race Meeting for picnics on the lawns, or you can even bring your own marquee. This will be a 5-race meeting and buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and the Nanango RSL at 12:30pm. Gates will open at the track itself at around 10:00am so that go-getters can get a head start on that all-important socialising. Admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under-15s are free) and everyone is welcome! More details? Phone Rosemary on (07) 4163-2346. PS: If you've never been to the Nanango Races before, you can get an idea of what a fun day out they are by reading our report of the club's last meeting in April 2015.

The school will be holding big celebrations to mark these significant milestones, and anyone who's ever had any involvement with St Mary's is very welcome to attend them. Today the anniversary celebrations will kick off at 1:00pm with a big day out at the Nanango Races (see entry further above), and this will be followed at 6:00pm this evening with a Combined Anniversaries Mass, and then - from 7:00pm until 11:00pm - a Combined Anniversaries Dinner with live entertainment. You can RSVP on the school's website by clicking here. More details? Phone the College on (07) 4162-2011.

If you're a League fan, Jack O'Chin Oval at Cherbourg is the place to be this afternoon. The reason? Cherbourg are hosting this year's South Burnett Intrust Super Cup match between the Ipswich Jets and the Souths Logan Magpies at 3:00pm, and it should be a bobby dazzler! This match will be preceded by an A-Grade local game between the Kingaroy Red Ants and Monto at 1:30pm; and followed by another A-Grade local match between the mighty Cherbourg Hornets and Mundubbera at 4:30pm. Admission to the grounds is $5 and because of alcohol restrictions at Cherbourg, there won't be a bar operating on the grounds (police will be patrolling the roads and conducting searches to ensure no-one has any alcohol in their cars either, so be warned!). Meanwhile, in Junior League, Cherbourg will be playing the Wondai Wolves at Cherbourg all morning; Kingaroy Red Ants will be playing the Murgon Mustangs at TJ O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy; and the Nanango Stags will be playing other Nanango teams or the Central Burnett Brumbies (varies on age groups) at Stags Oval off the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango. You can get a complete match list and a preview of the Intrust Super Cup match on our website.
