South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wicked - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society will be presenting their second performance of the Broadway musical Wicked at Kingaroy's Performing Arts Centre at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy in a matinee at 1:00pm this afternoon. Wicked - based on the Wizard Of Oz - tells of the story of the conflict between Glinda The Good Witch and the Wicked Witch Of The West. The show debuted in 2003, and in 2019 became the 5th longest-running musical on Broadway, surpassing Les Miserables. It has also won three Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards and a Grammy for its original cast album. Tickets to tonight's performance are $20 for adults, $15 for children and $10 for pensioners, and they can be booked online or obtained at the door. Note: Three more performances will be held next weekend, October 9-10.
Sunday Breakfast Buffet - Proston
The Golden Spurs Hotel at the corner of Blake and Rodney Streets, Proston will be running an all-you-can-eat Breakfasat Buffet from 8:30am to 10:30am this morning. The buffet will offer hot and cold selections along with tea, coffee and juice for $25 per adult and $10 for children 5-12. However, spaces are limited so a booking is essential: (07) 4168-9876.
Spring Garden Fete - Proston
A Spring Garden Fete will be held at of Noel and Helen Young's property "Rose Park" at 12 Okeden Road, Proston from 8:00am onwards this morning. The fete will feature several stalls offering everything from food and drinks through to plants and crafts. Keen gardeners will enjoy a couple of quirky quizzes designed to test their knowledge, and guests are welcomer to brfin g along their own flowers to compete in a "Best Of Show" competition for nice prizes. A multi draw raffle with a variety of good prizes will be drawn at noon, and proceeds of the day will be used to improve the amenities in the Lions Park garden. Everyone is welcome! More details? Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Cowgirls Gathering - Kilkivan
The third (and final) day of the inaugural 3-day Cowgirls Gathering will be held at the Kilkivan Equestrian Centre at Kilkivan Showgrounds in Mudlo Road, Kilkivan, kicking off at 7:00am this morning and running until around 4:00pm this afternoon. Today this event will offer a program of competitions, demonstrations, classes and clinics running simultaneously across multiple locations at the grounds, and on-site camping and glamping options are also available if you want to stay over. Spectator tickets today are $75 to $100, and more details can be found on the Cowgirls Gathering website.
Linville Markets
The monthly Linville Markets will be held at Linville Hall in George Street from 7:00am to around noon today. The markets offer a variety of stalls, along with a breakfast BBQ. New stallholders are always welcome, too. More details? Phone 0402-845-186.
Moffatdale Boutique Markets
The Moffatdale Boutique Markets will be running at Moffatdale Ridge Winery at 681 Barambah Road, Moffatdale from 8:00am to around 2:00pm this afternoon. As many as 60 stall-holders will be attending, offering artisnal and hand-made wares. Moffatdale Ridge's cellar door and cafe will also be open, offering a full range of wines, liqueurs and light meals. There's no admission charge and everyone is welcome. More details? Free Community Lunch - Kingaroy
A free community lunch will be held at Kingaroy's Senior Citizens Park (between Pound Street and Kingaroy Street) from noon until 2:00pm today. This new weekly lunch is being hosted by South Burnett service clubs and other local volunteers to assist people who are being hit particularly hard by the current pandemic.
Cooyar Campdraft
The third (and final) day of the three-day Cooyar Campdraft will be held at the Cooyar Showgrounds in Rangemore Road, Cooyar from 5:30am this morning until this afternoon. This year's campdraft is being run later than usual due to the pandemic and is expected to draw a very big roll-up. Today's action will feature a continuation of the $2200 Novice Draft, followed by the finals of the $3800 Open Draft and then the finals of the Novice Draft. Entry to the campdraft is 100% free for spectators, and there'll also be a bar and canteen running as well as plenty of campsites available in the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Open Mic Jam Session & Social Bowls - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Bowls Club in Crescent Street, Kilkivan will be holding an Open Mic Jam Session hosted by Karen Thomsen from 12:00 noon to around 4:00pm today. The Country Music Friends will be holding their first Sunday of the month informal concert at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street from 1:00pm this afternoon.
