Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2022 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be displaying " Groundswell: Recent Movements Within Art And Territory" from Artback NT, a travelling exhibition featuring works in a variety of media by contemporary Indigenous artists from the Northern Territory and Central Australia. This exhibition - which deals with environmental issues through moving images, visualised data, sound recordings, painting, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture - has rarely been seen anywhere else in rural Australia, and has been brought to Wondai after many months of negotiation. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a local winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the Gallery on (07) 4168-5926. Note: After tonight's opening the exhibition will remain on show from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily until the end of the month.

Tonight's opening will feature a fashion parade along with a warming supper, and it will usher in two months of exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations covering a wide range of locally-produced crafts from quilt-making through to gem cutting, and everything in between. Previous Winter Craft Festivals have drawn a very positive reaction from the public and this year's promises to be the best to date. Admission to tonight's opening is free and everyone is welcome!
