St Patrick's Masquerade Quiz Night - Nanango
St Patrick's Catholic School in Alfred Street, Nanango will be holding a Masquerade Quiz Night from 6:30pm until late this evening (quizzing starts at 7:00pm sharp). Play will take place in teams of 6 to 8, and guests are encouraged to dress up in costumes and/or wear a mask for maximum enjoyment. Registration fees are $10 per player and there'll be team table nibbles, but you should BYO alcohol plus gold coins for the money boards and toss game. Everyone is welcome - the night is a fundraiser for the school's P&F - and you can obtain more details by phoning (07) 4163-1555.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Outtawak - Murgon
Outtawak - Rob Rosenlund, Tony Jeffrey and Davo Mitchell - will be performing at the annual Graham House Community Centre "Big Night Out" at Murgon Town Hall off Lamb Street, Murgon this evening. Tickets are $50 (which includes light snacks) or $40 (which don't) and they can be obtained from Graham House at 21 Taylor Street in Murgon, the Graham House Transport Centre or Murgon Betta Home Living. Take To The Track Challenge - Nanango
If you like racing, the South Burnett Go-Kart Track on the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango is the place to be today. Local police are holding a "Take To The Track Challenge" charity fundraiser from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and you'll be able to race against the police to your heart's content. There'll also be road safety displays, an impaired/distracted driving simulator, a jumping castle and a sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! Note: This event was originally scheduled for September 18, but had to be postponed at the last minute due to wet weather.
Oktoberfest - Kumbia
The Kumbia Hotel in Bell Street, Kumbia will be holding its first-ever Oktoberfest from noon until late tonight featuring German beers, traditional Oktoberfest foods, German music, a live band and a jumping castle for children. In addition, guests who come dressed to the Oktoberfest theme can get a free beer stein! Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Grants 101 Workshop - Blackbutt
A Grants 101 Workshop will be held at the Roy Emerson Museum at Nukku Nook at the end of Hart Street, Blackbutt from 10:00am to noon this morning. The workshop will cover budgeting, project planning, compliance, promotion and acquittals and is designed to help make grant submissions more effective. Light Party - Kingaroy
Kingaroy's combined churches will be hosting a Light Party - a positive alternative to Halloween - at Memorial Park in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 2:30pm to around 6:00pm this afternoon. This family-oriented get-together will offer a free sausage sizzle, ice blocks, and drinks and if parents BYO chair, they can sit back and enjoy a live band while their children are kept entertained with games and competitions. Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. The Winds Of Change Art Gallery in George Street, Nanango will be holding a Watercolour Workshop with visiting artist Shona Nicholls today (as well as Sunday and Monday). The workshop is for beginner and intermediate watercolourists, and the $35 fee includes all materials and morning tea (BYO lunch). Wood Sculpture Workshop - Blackbutt
Acclaimed wood sculptor Shane Christensen will be holding a woodworking workshop at the Timbertowns Woodworkers Shed at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. Psychic Fair - Nanango
The South Burnett Spiritualist Church will be holding a Psychic Fair at the QCWA Hall in Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 3:00pm today. Psychic readers will be attending from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Nanango and you can get a reading for $20 or a bit of healing for a gold coin donation. There'll also be stalls selling crystals, clothing and other knick-knacks, and refreshments including $7 breakfasts and lunches, sandwiches and morning/afternoon teas will be available too.
