South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
National Police Remembrance Day - Nanango
Today is National Police Remembrance Day, a day when police officers and their supporters gather together to remember fellow officers who have fallen in the line of duty, as well as recognising the commitment, dedication and bravery of all past, present and future police officers. In the South Burnett, a service is held at a different town in the region each year to mark the day. This year's service will be held at Our Lady Help Of Christians Catholic Church in Gipps Street, Nanango at 10:00am this morning, and everyone is welcome.
Kilkivan Memory Lounge
A Kilkivan Memory Lounge will be held at the Supper Room inside Kilkivan Public Hall at 31 Bligh Street, Kilkivan from 10:00am to 12:30pm this morning. The Memory Lounge - run in conjunction with Griffith University, the State Archives and Kilkivan Community Care Association - aims to enrich lives by empowering memories and is completely free. However, places are limited so a booking is essential and you should phone Rosie on 0407-699-620 by September 20 if you want to attend or require more information.
Wednesday Bingo - Kumbia
RSL Bingo will be played at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street today, with a daytime session starting at 10:00am (for a 10:30am start) and an evening session running at 6:00pm (for a 6:30pm start). Today's bingo games will be offering Jackpot Prizes starting at $50, a Lucky Door prize, a meat raffle, food and drinks and they're being run with assistance from Kingaroy RSL. Everyone is welcome!
Wednesday Night Dance Classes - Inverlaw
Dance classes will be held at Inverlaw Hall on Burrandowan Road at Inverlaw from 7:30pm tonight. The classes are a great way to learn ballroom dancing classics like the Quick Step, Jazz Waltz, Swing Waltz, Evening Three Step and many more, and class fees are just $4. More details? Bunya Rainforest Experience - Bunya Mountains
The Bunya Mountains Community Association will be running a "Bunya Rainforest Experience" from 10:30am to 1:00pm today at the Allan Stirling Memorial Park at the corner of Bunya Avenue and the Bunya Mountains Road in Dandabah as a school holiday event. Guests can learn about rainforest trees and for a $10 donation, get a rainforest seedling with their own name tag that they can plant in the park and (in future years) come back and observe it as it grows. There'll also be instruction on how to bonsai rainforest trees, and the morning will be capped off with a BYO Picnic In The Park. Guests should bring a picnic lunch, a water bottle, sturdy shoes, garden gloves and insect repellent, and proceeds of the day will go towards the construction of a Bunya Mountains Community Centre. Kilkivan Touch Footy
Kilkivan Touch Footy will be holding its weekly session at Weir Oval in Council Street, Kilkivan at 6:00pm sharp tonight. New players of all ages and abilities are welcome, and match fees are just $2. More details? Message the Facebook page
Mr B's Rural School Holiday Tennis Clinic - Blackbutt
Mr B's Rural School Holiday Tennis Clinic will be running at the Blackbutt Tennis Courts in Hart Street, Blackbutt (just past the Radnor Hotel) from 8:00am onwards today. The tennis clinic offers games, activities and giveaways for school-aged junior players and it's completely free, but to help plan the numbers an RSVP would be greatly appreciated. Wednesday Night Poker - Kingaroy

Community Meeting - Murgon
South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto and Cr Kathy Duff will be holding a public meeting at QEII Park in the heart of Murgon's CBD from 5:00pm tonight to gather the community's ideas for upgrading the parklands (eg: trees, gardens, seating, picnic shelters, pathways, tourism and heritage signage, parking etc) that will inform a preliminary design that will be prepared by Council staff in the next few months. The meeting will be followed by a BYO dinner in the park, and everyone is welcome!
Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Wednesday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:00am until around 12:00 noon today. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Queensland State Gliding Competition - Kingaroy
CANCELLED: The Kingaroy Soaring Club will be hosting the 2021 Gliding Queensland State Competition from September 25 to October 1 at Kingaroy Airport. There are approximately 30 entries across 3 different classes of gliders competing in this year's event, with a high class field of entrants, some of whom have represented Australia at the World Gliding level. Kingaroy residents may notice additional glider activity over the airport and around the region during this period.
Alcoholics Anonymous - Proston
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. AA meets in Proston every Wednesday from 6:00pm to around 7:30pm at the old railway station at Railway Park in Rodney Street, and members who can't make it in person can join in the meeting online via Zoom. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). And anyone who's finding it hard to make ends meet is very welcome to make use of it. More details? Phone James on 0438-071-658.
