Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their ninth monthly exhibition for 2017 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting the 18th annual South Burnett Regional Art Competition, which showcases works in art, photography, sculpture and ceramics categories created exclusively by South Burnett artists. The competition offers $8000 in prize monies, including a $3000 South Burnett Acquisitive sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council, and is the biggest art competition of its kind in the region. Tonight's opening will also launch this year's South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show long weekend festival of events, and it will be followed by the festival's launch dinner at the nearby Wondai RSL, where Muddy Flats will be providing the entertainment. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a South Burnett winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome to attend. More details? Phone the Gallery on (07) 4168-5926. Note: After tonight's opening the exhibition will remain on show from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily until October 28.
Friday Night With Muddy Flats - Wondai
Top South Burnett blues and country band Muddy Flats will be performing at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 8:00pm until late tonight to help launch this year's South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show October long weekend festival of events. Over the next three days the festival will be offering 40 events ranging from fun outings at local wineries to fishing on the region's dams, music in the Bunya Mountains and at Maidenwell, local history events at Proston, the official launch of the South Burnett Rail Trail and much, much more. The October long weekend is the last public holiday before Christmas, and if you want to save for the Festive season it's a perfect opportunity to stay home, avoid the crowds, have fun in our own back yard and enjoy the best our region has to offer.
