Kumbia Country Markets
The second Kumbia Country Markets for 2017 (run by the Kumbia Hall Committee) will be held in Bell Street and the precincts of the Kumbia Hall from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. The markets feature homemade gifts, fashions, fresh fruit and vegies, plants and crafts and a sausage sizzle will be operating too! Kingaroy Comedy Night
A Comedy Night will be held at St John's Lutheran School Hall in Ivy Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm to 10:00pm tonight as a fundraiser for Kingaroy Dance Supporters Inc to help send young South Burnett dancers to perform in the USA. Apart from professional stand up comedians, guests can also get to enjoy finger foods, a lucky door prize and a bar for drinks. Tickets are $35 per head and can be booked online, but some will also be available at the door tonight.
Back To Benarkin Bush Picnic
A "Back To Benarkin Bush Picnic" will be held at First Settlers Park opposite the Benarkin General Store from 10:30am this morning until late this afternoon. Guests will be able to hear the stories of early Benarkin - which was really quite an amazing place - and the $10 admission fee includes lunch, sweets, a cold drink, tea and coffee. Kingaroy Boxing Club Fight Night
The Kingaroy Boxing Club will be hosting a Fight Night at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy tonight. Doors open at 5:30pm and the first match will get underway at 6:00pm. As a special added attraction, tonight's bouts will also feature two footy fights and two tradie fights. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children over 10 years (under 10s are free).
Christmas In July Buffet - Wondai
A great Christmas In July Buffet will be held at Dimities Cottage in Haly Street, Wondai (opposite the Wondai Art Gallery) at 6:30pm this evening. Chef Graham and his helpers will be serving up an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of Christmas favourites in a forest of beautifully decorated trees and a wonderful collection of Santas. Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding another of their popular monthly Pig On A Spit evenings from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be live entertainment from a local performer and lots of cold beer, along with more pork than you can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy! There'll also be roast beef and spit roasted chicken on the menu tonight for those who prefer a non-pork option, plus a vegetarian option (ie vegies only). In addition, there'll also be a Meat Raffle run as a fundraiser for Tanduringie State School. Three quality meat trays from The Little Butcher in Kingaroy will be up for grabs. Everyone is welcome! Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Race Day
The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a Race Day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 1:30pm this afternoon. They'll be holding McDonald's Club Day 4, with racing starting from 2:00pm. The club is for young motorcycle riders aged 4 to 16 and spectators are very welcome. More details? Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding their Saturday meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Saturday Soccer - Wondai and Kingaroy
The South Burnett's 2017 soccer season will hold its 12th round in Wondai and Kingaroy today. In Wondai, home team Barambah will play Gunners at the Wondai Soccer Fields off the Bunya Highway just north of Wondai Sportsgrounds, with 1st Division hitting the park at 12:30pm, Women's Division at 2:00pm and 2nd Division at 3:15pm. And in Kingaroy, home team Wests will play Nanango at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division kicking off at 2:00pm, Women's Division at 3:30pm and 1st Division under lights at 5:00pm. Admission to view the matches is free, and a canteen will be running at both venues. Spectators are very welcome!
Sempf Sisters - Kingaroy
Popular entertainers The Sempf Sisters will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until late tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
At The Wineries
Three of the South Burnett's wineries will be open for lunch today. At Moffatdale, Moffatdale Ridge will have their cellar door verandah cafe open for light meals and snacks from 10:00am to 4:00pm. And in Kingaroy, Cranes Winery and Kingsley Grove will be open the same hours, serving up wines and platters (at Cranes) and wines, cheese platters and wood-fired pizzas (at Kingsley Grove). Amanda Sempf - Blackbutt
Popular South Burnett entertainer Amanda Sempf will be performing at the Scrubby Creek Bar in Coulson Street, Blackbutt (just next to the Bunyanut Cafe) from 6:00pm until late tonight. Admission is free and everyone is welcome!
Timber Production and Grazing Field Day - Nanango
A Timber Production and Grazing Field Day will be held at BJ Gentry’s property in Nanango from 9:00am to 3:00pm today. The Field Day will look at how timber production and grazing can happily coexist, and it is free. You can read all about it on our website.
