Kumbia Country Markets
The first Kumbia Country Markets for 2017 (run by the Kumbia Hall Committee) will be held in Bell Street and the precincts of the Kumbia Hall from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. The markets feature homemade gifts, fashions, fresh fruit and vegies, plants and crafts and a sausage sizzle will be operating too! Taabinga SS Masquerade Cocktail Fundraiser - Kingaroy
Taabinga State School P&C will be holding their 2017 Masquerade Cocktail Fundraiser at the Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm (for a 6:30pm start) until late this evening. Tickets are $50 per head - which includes a drink on arrival and cocktail food throughout the night - and all proceeds will go towards air-conditioning the classrooms. Everyone is welcome! Wedding & Formal Week - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Shoppingworld will be holding a Wedding & Formal Week from Wednesday until Saturday. Over 20 bridal and formal wear stalls will be spread around the shopping centre, giving Shoppingworld customers the chance to view what's on offer from a big range of local service providers under one roof. There'll also be give away bags and prizes, and today there'll be a fashion parade as well.
Nanango Kindergarten Golf Day
The Nanango Kindergarten will be holding a Golf Day at the Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar Highway north of town today as a fundraiser. It will taker the form of a two-person ambrose, and nominations will close at 10:00am for a 10:30am shotgun start, followed by a mega raffle draw and auction. There'll be lots of great prizes on offer and all proceeds will go to aid the kindy. Everyone is welcome!
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Women In Agriculture Day - Mondure
BIEDO and BMRG will be holding a free Women In Agriculture Day at Mondure Hall in McConnell Way at Mondure from 8:30am to 3:00pm today. A variety of informative guest speakers will be talking during the get-together, and morning tea and lunch will be provided at no cost. There will also be time to network and socialise, and various trade stands with an agricultural theme will be on hand as well. There'll also be a coffee van on site. Everyone is welcome! Dichroic Glass Workshop - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) will be holding an all day Dichroic glass art workshops from 8:30am this morning. Artists Diana Bolton and Catherine Woodham will teach students how to make a dazzling dichroic glass pendant, and the cost of the workshop is $50 to cover materials. Everyone is welcome!
Widgee Campdraft
The three day Widgee Campdraft, which was to have been held from April 28-30 at the Widgee campdraft grounds, has been postponed to a new date yet to be announced.
Floodplain Risk Management Plan Meeting - Yarraman
The Toowoomba Regional Council will be holding a public meeting at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street from 9:30am to 12:30pm this morning to gather information so it can prepare a flood risk management strategy for the town and district. Everyone is welcome.
Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Club Race Day
The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding the John Titman Golden Steel Shoe Challenge race day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 11:30am this morning (when gates open) to late this afternoon. Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy
Although there are no official South Burnett soccer matches scheduled for today, soccer fans can get to enjoy two clashes between Barambah and Gunners' men's teams at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy, with the 2nd Division teams hitting the park at 2:00pm and the 1st Division sides toeing the turf at 4:00pm. The matches are both "catch up" games for the Super Saturday set down for April 1, which had to be cancelled at the last minute thanks to ex-Cyclone Debbie. Spectators are supporters are very welcome!
Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding another of their popular monthly Pig On A Spit evenings from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be live entertainment from a local performer and lots of cold beer, along with more pork than you can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy! There'll also be roast beef and spit roasted chicken on the menu tonight for those who prefer a non-pork option, plus a vegetarian option (ie vegies only). In addition, tonight there'll also be a Meat Raffle run as a fundraiser for Tanuringie State School. Three quality meat trays from The Little Butcher in Kingaroy will be up for grabs. Saturday Rugby League - Murgon, Kingaroy and Nanango
There won't be any senior rugby league games played in the South Burnett this weekend because of the 47th Battalion competition in Rockhampton, but league fans who enjoy junior games have plenty of options. In Murgon, in the U18s competition, the South Burnett Eagles will play Pittsworth at the Macalister Street Showgrounds at 11:30am. In Kingaroy, Kingaroy will play Wondai in the U6s at 9:00am; U8s at 9:45am; U10s at 10:45am; and U12s at noon. This will be followed by a clash between Kingaroy and Cherbourg's U14s at 1:00pm, and then Kingaroy vs the combined Wondai and Murgon U16s at 2:15pm. And in Nanango, U6s and U8s will play at 9:00am; U10s at 10:00am; and U12s at 11:00am. This will be followed with an U12s clash against Dalby at 1:00pm; Nanango vs Chinchilla U16s at 2:00pm; and then Nanango vs Chinchilla U14s at 3:00pm. Canteens will be running at all venues and spectators are very welcome.
Kaimkillenbun Trail Ride
The Kaimkillenbun P&C will be holding their 19th annual Kaimkillenbun Trail Ride through farm paddocks and the foothills of the Bunya Mountains at Kaimkillenbun today and tomorrow as a fundraiser. The ride will offer an Open Track, and U16s Track, a Novice Track and a Pee Wee Track on Saturday, and the Open Track again on Sunday. Today there'll be a briefing at 9:45am before the track opens at 10:00am, and racing will continue until 2:00pm. On Sunday, the briefing will occur at 8:45am with racing from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Fees range from $10 for insured Pee Wees through to $75 for uninsured Open Track riders and this includes a free burger - but it's a strictly cash-only event. Wondai Firies Charity Golf Day
The annual Wondai Firies Charity Golf Day will be held at the Wondai Country Club off the Bunya Highway at Wondai from 9:30am this morning.
