Ringsfield Movie Afternoon - Nanango
The Nanango Project For The Aged will be screening a Sunday afternoon movie at their cinema - the old chapel in the grounds of Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango - from 2:30pm to around 5:00pm today. This month's film is the 2001 Australian comedy classic "The Man Who Sued God" starring Billy Connolly and Judy Davis, the 28th highest grossing Australian film of all time. Advocate Steve Myers (Billy Connolly) is a disillusioned lawyer who becomes fed-up with the judicial system. He quits the law and buys a small fishing boat to take up fishing for a living. But when his boat is struck by lightning and explodes into pieces, burns and sinks, he informs his insurance company which reviews and then declines his claim on the grounds it is not liable because his fishing boat was destroyed by an "Act of God". Frustrated, Steve then files a claim against God ... and the outrageous comedy quickly unfolds. Admission to today's screening is $8 for adults and $2 for children which covers the cost of the venue and coffee, tea and a scone at interval. Bookings are necessary to help plan the catering, though: phone Louise on 0427-631-549 or Anne on 0439-709-214. PS: Thanks to a recent grant from Heritage Bank in Nanango, guests at today's screening can get to enjoy cushioned seats and air conditioning, too.
