Seafood Sunday - Bunya Mountains
If you're looking for something great to do this weekend, Lyrics Restaurant at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains - just behind the Bunya Mountains General Store - will be holding their monthly "Seafood Sunday" from 11:00am onwards today (lunch will be served from around noon). The fully-licensed restaurant will be offering a 100% fresh seafood a-la-carte menu, serving seafoods obtained from the coast yesterday - and be warned! The serving sizes are h-u-g-e. Bunya Mountains Markets
The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will also be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas (as well as Seafood Sunday at Lyrics licensed restaurant - see entry above), and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park.
South Burnett Interclub Photography Exhibition - Nanango
The annual South Burnett Camera Clubs Digital Photo Interclub - a showcase of the best digital photography shot around the region over the last year by members of the South Burnett's photography clubs - will go on public display at St Patrick's School at 16 Alfred Street, Nanango, from 1:00pm this afternoon after judging by Ben Stoffl AFIAP AAPS PSQA, the president of the Photographic Society of Qld, concludes. Ben will comment on each image and provide advice on any improvements the photographers might be able to make to it, so if you have an interest in photography this will be a rare chance to pix up expert tips as well. Admission is by gold coin donation - to cover the cost of tea, coffee and cake - and everyone is welcome! You can also read more about today's Interclub on our website.
Hivesville Country Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 7:00am to around 1:00pm today. These family friendly monthly markets feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. There'll also be mini auctions running throughout the morning and there's plenty of free parking in the grounds. Kumbia Antiques Roadshow
The second - and final - day of the third annual Kumbia Antiques Roadshow will be held at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street from 11:30am to around 4:00pm today. If you love antiques, a $25 ticket includes lunch, afternoon tea and written valuations on a maximum of two items (your pieces will be identified, discussed and valued by licenced valuer, Ray Dalton).The Antiques Roadshow is a very informative and fun day, but tickets need to be prepaid because places are strictly limited. Sunday Afternoon Poker - Kingaroy
Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Sunday afternoon poker games today. Registration starts at 2:00pm and the first cards are dealt at 2:30pm. There are $150 in prizes to be won and no fees to play. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Nanango Hack And Pony Club Annual Sporting Gymkhana
The Nanango Hack and Pony Club will be holding their annual Sporting Gymkhana at the Nanango Showgronds in Cairns Street from 8:30am until around 3:00pm today. The Gymkhana is open to members of Pony Club Queensland, and it will offer locally made trophy shields to event winners, along with embroidered rugs for some of the high point trophies. More than 70 competitors from U6s to seniors have already registered, but registrations will also be accepted at the grounds this morning. Kilkivan Sunday Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The South Burnett Orchid Society will be holding their regular last Sunday of the month meeting at the South Burnett Youth Park in Somerset Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm onwards this aftenoon. South Burnett Chorale - Murgon
The South Burnett Chorale will be performing "Singing Under A Winter Sky" at the Castra Retirement Home at 2 Cooper Street in Murgon at 2:00pm this afternoon. Admission - which includes afternoon tea - is $8 and children under 12 are free. This concert wil also be performed at Taabinga Homestead next Sunday, August 2.
