South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft
The first day of the three-day ACA affiliated 2015 Proston Golden Spurs Campdraft will be held at the Proston Showgrounds today, beginning at 12:00 noon with the first round of the Cooinda Santa Gertrudis Novice (the 2nd round and the finals will be held tomorrow). This will be followed later in the afternoon by one round and then the final of the Dunlop Santas Restricted Open, which is restricted to horses that have won an Open or Novice draft only. A bar and canteen will be operating all day and there'll be entertainment in the evening after the campdraft action winds down. Admission is 100% free for spectators and everyone is welcome! Junior Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy
The second bi-monthly Junior Blue Light Disco for 2015 will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Entry to the Junior Disco is restricted to young people aged 14 and below who can produce their student ID, and in addition to a fun night out tonight's disco will also have some great prizes to be won as well, courtesy of sponsors South Burnett Fencing and Kingaroy Body Works. Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. Spirit Of The Bush Heritage & Balladeers Muster - Boondooma
The third day of the 5-day Spirit Of The Bush Heritage and Balladeers Muster will be held at Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Durong-Mundubbera Road, Boondooma today. This popular annual campout event features lots of Australia's top bush balladeers and poets (48 will be appearing at the Muster this year) along with walk-up artists. The Muster routinely attracts 700 to 800 caravanners plus day-trippers, and in addition to bucketloads of non-stop great music there'll also be camp oven meals, a licensed bar, BBQ, stalls, displays of vintage cars and engines, photography and historical items. Tickets are $95 for the full five days of the festival, or $30 if you just want a day pass for today only (children under 15 are free). Friday Afternoon Scroungers - Nanango

Jackpot Karaoke - Proston
A Jackpot Karaoke Night with Love2Sing will be held at the Golden Spurs Hotel in Blake Street, Proston from 7:30pm until late this evening, where every singer goes into the draw for a chance to win $110 (the prize pool jackpots evey month if it's not won). Everyone is welcome along to this fun night of singing and dancing - just perfect if you've been spending the afternoon at the nearby Golden Spurs Campdraft - and admission is free. More details? The Coverty Creek Comunity Development and Social Club will be holding its regular Friday night social gathering at the Red Shed at 198 Coverty Road, Coverty from 5:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. South Burnett Wine Appreciation Society - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Wine Appreciation Society will be holding their regular monthly meeting at the 1913 Council Chambers in Edward Street behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre from 6:30pm onwards this evening. Tonight's meeting wil feature rare and/or little known red wine varieties from the Alpine Valleys region of north-eastern Victoria selected by Bruce and Anne Hillas, and everyone is welcome. The Wine Appreciation Society is open to anyone who'd like to learn more about wines and the $10 or so meeting fee covers all wine tastings and nibbles. More details? Friday Night Sax - Wondai
The South Burnett's very own "Sultan Of Sax" Tom McKenzie will be playing at the Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late tonight. Friday Morning Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be running bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Country Music Night - Nanango
An informal Country Music Night will be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Gipps Street, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight. The get-together is open to both spectators and performers, and the $2 entry fee includes supper. Everyone is welcome!
Rugby League - Wondai
Round 1 of the South Burnett Junior Rugby League competition kicks off this weekend. At Wondai Sportsground, the Wondai Wolves will play the Cherbourg Hornets tonight: 5:00pm – Under 6s & 8s, 5:45pm – Under 10s, 6:45pm – Under 12s.
South Burnett Pantry
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $35 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
