Nanango Kennel Club Championship Dog Show

The Nanango Kennel Club will be holding their annual Championship Dog Show at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from 9:00am to around 2:00pm today. This huge show usually attracts 300 to 400 magnificent pedigree purebred dogs of all shapes and sizes, and if you're a fan of four-legged friends it's a must-see. Beautiful dogs will be competing (along with their owners) with the ultimate aim of winning Best In Show, and many rare and unusual breeds will be present as well. Junior Blue Light Disco - Kingaroy

The second Junior Blue Light Disco for 2016 will be held at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 6:00pm to 8:30pm this evening. Entry to the Junior Disco is restricted to young people aged 14 and below who can produce their student ID, and in addition to a fun night out tonight's disco will also have some great prizes to be won as well, courtesy of sponsors. Admission is $5 and - as usual - attendees are asked to remember that Blue Light Discos are drug, alcohol, chewing gum and tobacco free and no passouts or early exit will be given without parental permission and/or collection. Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers Muster - Boondooma

The third day of the 6-day Spirit Of The Bush Balladeers & Heritage Muster will be held at Boondooma Homestead at 8262 Durong-Mundubbera Road, Boondooma today. This popular annual campout week features lots of Australia's top bush balladeers and poets (52 will be appearing at the Muster this year) along with walk-up artists. The Muster routinely attracts 700 to 800 caravanners plus day-trippers, and in addition to bucketloads of non-stop great music there'll also be great camp oven meals, a licensed bar, BBQ, stalls, displays of vintage cars and engines, photography and historical items. Tickets are $95 for the full six days of the festival, or $25 if you just want a day pass for today only (children under 15 are free). Seniors Having A Ball - Murgon

The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be holding a "Seniors Having A Ball" exercise class from 8:30am to 9:30am this morning. The program is designed to address the issues that many have with ageing and it's not just for seniors! It provides light exercise to keep the heart and joints moving, improving coordination and mobility. It also provides a beginner platform to start any fitness activity on. Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango

The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:30pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). Rugby League - Kingaroy

There's a feast of rugby league in the South Burnett this weekend split over three days. Tonight, the U16 Kingaroy Reds will play Pittsworth at 7:00pm at TJ O'Neill Oval. This will be followed by the South Burnett Whites taking on Valleys in the Toowoomba U18s competition from 8:15pm. There'll be more rugby league on tomorrow at Wondai and on Sunday at Nanango and Cherbourg.

Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 9:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers will be available for $20.

South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy

The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
