Fathers Day
Today is the first Sunday in September: Fathers Day, the counterpoint to Mothers Day and probably the one time of the year that thoughtful children make their Dad breakfast in bed, get him his Ipad so he can read the Sunday news and then stay well out of his hair for at least an hour or two (especially if he was out celebrating last night). If you want to give your Dad a special treat today there are several fun things happening around our region you can take him along to - and there's sure to be something to please him no matter what his interests. Here's what they are:
Fathers Day Smorgasbord - Wondai
Dimities Cottage at 49 Haly Street in Wondai will be holding an all-you-can-eat Fathers Day smorgasbord from 12:00 noon today. Seats are $20 per head and bookings are highly advisable: (07) 4168-5744.
Fathers Day Luncheon - Murgon
The Royal Hotel in Lamb Street, Murgon will be holding a Fathers Day Luncheon from 11:30am to 2:00pm today, offering a choice of four mains for $25 per head, along with a children's option for $10 per head. There'll also be live entertainment from Real Steel between noon and 4:00pm, but bookings are advisable: (07) 4168-1799.
Fathers Day Fair - Kingaroy
Andersson's Fruit Market at 22 Markwell Street in Kingaroy will be hosting a Father's Day Fair - a karaoke car boot sale - outside their store from 12:00 noon to 3:00pm today. Everyone is welcome and there's no charge to take part.
Fathers Day Buffet Brunch - Kingaroy
The Carrollee Hotel in King Street, Kingaroy will be running a Fathers Day Buffet Brunch from 8:00am to 11:00am this morning. For $19.99 per head, Dads can enjoy Eggs Benedict, bacon and eggs, mushrooms, hash browns, cereals, fruits, muffins tea and coffee. Bookings are advisable, though: (07) 4162-1055.
Sunday Sesh At The Palace - Nanango
The Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango will be holding an all-acoustic Sunday Sesh in the beer garden from 3:00pm this afternoon, featuring Alex The Frenchman. Children's activities will also be available to keep young ones happily amused while their parents (especially Dad) relax. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Buffalo Lodge Meeting - Wondai
Wondai's Buffalos will be holding their regular monthly meeting in the dining room of the Cecil Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai at 10:00am this morning. Potential new members and visiting Buffalos are very welcome to come along, and the meeting will be followed by lunch.
Country Music Friends - Yarraman
The Country Music Friends will be holding their first Sunday of the month informal concert at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street from 1:00pm this afternoon. New players are very welcome and you can obtain more details by phoning Jenny on (07) 4163-2469.
Sunday Bingo - Wondai

Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
