South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Medals, Music and Memories - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be holding a special dinner and concert - "Medals, Music and Memories" - at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy this evening as a fundraiser for "Soldier On", a charity which supports injured soldiers. Tonight's concert will be based on the theme of 100 years of the Anzac tradition and will feature live orchestral music which is either from the time of the major conflicts in the past 100 years, or music that has become associated with these conflicts. Doors open at 6:00pm.
Mini-Mod Carnival - Wondai
The South Burnett's annual Mini Mods rugby league carnival will be held over three ovals at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway in Wondai today. This carnival always attracts hundreds of junior players from all over the Wide-Bay Burnett, and all games will start at 8:20am and continue through until the afternoon. The U7s, U8s and U10s are all 15-minute games and will wrap up around 2:00pm, while the U12s are 19-minute games and will wrap up around 4:30pm. The U7s and U8s will play on Oval 3; the U10s on Oval 2; and the U12s on Oval 1. Spectators and supporters are very welcome! You can also read more about today's carnival on our website
Documentary Film Launches - Blackbutt
Blackbutt documentary film maker Joel Thomas will be launching two documentaries at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Coulson Street, Blackbutt at 6:00pm this evening: "A Journey Along The Upper Brisbane Valley Rail Trail" and "Taromeo Cemetery Reconstruction". The films will be acompanied by live entertainment from singer-songwriter Tony Foran, who'll be singing songs he's composed about the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. The $15 admission fee includes a free glass of wine plus hot food, and everyone is welcome - but for catering purposes, an RSVP to Noeleen on (07) 4163-0413 by July 15 would be greatly appreciated. Tonight's event is being sponsored by the Blackbutt & District Tourism and Heritage Association.
South Burnett Woodcrafters - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Woodcrafters will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at their clubhouse, which is located behind the Kingaroy Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street from 8:00am to around mid-day today. Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy and Murgon
The twelfth round of the 2015 South Burnett Evolution Solar Football League competition will be played at Kingaroy and Murgon this afternoon. In Kingaroy, home team Gunners will face off against Nanango's fearsome Panthers at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division hitting the park at 2:00pm; Women's Division at 3:15pm; and 1st Division at 5:00pm. And in Murgon, home team Barambah will play Wests at the Murgon Soccer Fields in Macalister Street (ie the Murgon Showgrounds), with the 2nd Division match kicking off at 2:00pm; Women's Division at 3:30pm; and 1st Division at 5:00pm. A bar and canteen will be running at both venues, admission is free and spectators are very welcome! Meanwhile, Junior Soccer games will be held at the Nanango Soccer Fields in Burnett Street.
Arthur Nettelfield - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett country rock entertainer Arthur Nettelfield will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:30pm to 11:30pm this evening. Admission is free. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Saturday AFL - Kingaroy
If a weekend without AFL isn't a weekend for you, then you should get along to Lyle Vidler Oval at Youngman Street in Kingaroy at 12:00 noon today. The South Burnett Saints women's team - who are having their first season getting up there for Cazaley - will be playing Toowoomba on their home ground, and would appreciate local support. Spectators and supporters are very welcome; a bar and canteen will be operating on site; and admission is free. Note: The Men's and U16s teams will not be playing at Lyle Vidler this weekend.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre in Avoca Street, Kingaroy from 6:30am to around 12:00pm today. Saturday Afternoon Judo - Murgon
The Murgon Judo Club will be holding its regular Saturday afternoon training session at the Salvation Army Hall in Macalister Street, Murgon today.
