Federal Election
The Federal election will be held today, and South Burnett voters will need to cast their ballots for the House of Representatives and the Senate (unless they've already voted at a pre-poll station or applied for a postal ballot). Depending on where you live in the region, you'll be voting for a representative in either Maranoa, Flynn or Wide Bay in the House Of Representatives; and wherever you live, you'll also be selecting six Queensland Senators to join the other six already representing Queensland in the upper house. Polling booths will open at 8:00am and will close at 6:00pm sharp (you can get a list of all our region's polling booths on our website). The first results of the counting can be expected later this evening soon after polling booths close, but since it's expected to be a tight election the winner may not be known until late tonight. Voting is compulsory.
