South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Friendship Markets - Kingaroy
The third Saturday of the month Friendship Markets will be held at the Cheers Triangle end of the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 7:00am to around 12:00pm today. The markets are jointly run by the Kingaroy Rotary Club and Kingaroy Show Society and they feature a great array of arts, crafts, fruit and flower stalls. New stallholders are always very welcome! Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. Costume Jewellery Workshop - Kingaroy
Jumping Ant Arts will be holding a weekend-long Dichroic Glass Workshop at the 1913 Council Chambers behind the Visitor Information Centre in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 8:30am to 4:00pm today (and also tomorrow). The workshop - led by expert Shirley Wilkins - will teach participants how to make beautiful, sparkling costume jewellery from glass. The $50 course fee includes glass, materials, use of specialized tools and firing costs, plus morning and afternoon teas both days. The workshop is funded by RADF but places are limited. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding their Wednesday meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Burrandowan Campdraft
The first day of the annual two-day Burrandowan Campdraft - an Australian Campdrafting Association event - will be held at the Burrandown race course 65km north west of Kingaroy from early this morning until late tonight. Nominations for competitors need to be made through Campdraft Central, but the draft is completely free for spectators. Food and drinks will be available in the grounds. More details? Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Kingaroy QCWA Girls Craft Club
The Kingaroy QCWA Girls Craft Club will be holding its third Saturday of the month meeting at the Kingaroy QCWA Rooms at 122 Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy from 1:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. The club - which is for young girls aged 10 and above - teaches basic life skills like sewing, embroidery, healthy cooking and catering. Banjo's Birthday Bash - Kumbia
Here's something different! In recognition of Banjo Patterson's birthday, well known South Burnett bush poet Harry Pickering and country rock performers Kylie & Kim will be holding a bush poetry birthday party in honour of the Banjo on their property at 5610 Bunya Highway (between Kumbia and Bell) from 6:00pm until late tonight. Guests should BYO food, drink and chair, and can stay until late or camp overnight. Gas BBQs, tea and coffee will be provided and there's no admission fee (though a hat will be passed around for the band at some point in the evening). Everyone is welcome! More details? Endeavour Foundation One Day Rally - Jondaryan
If you're a rally driver who'd like to support a great cause, the Endeavour Foundation will be holding a One Day Rally at the Jondaryan Woolshed at 264 Jondaryan-Evanslea Road, Jondaryan from 8:30am to 5:00pm today. Registrations will take place at 10:00am and cars will leave every two minutes from 10:30am, stopping for lunch in Kingaroy before returning to Jondaryan. Entry in the rally is $50 per car (if registered for the 2017 Great Endeavour Rally) or $100 per car (if not). Participants will need a mate to be the navigator and a suitable 2WD, 4WD or modified rally car equipped with a UHF radio and an orange flashing light (this gear can be hired if you don't have it). Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be available to purchase at the Woolshed, and there'll be overnight accommodation available too. Everyone is welcome! More details? Pink Stumps Bowls Night - Wondai
The Wondai Country Club on the Bunya Highway just north of Wondai’s CBD will be holding a Pink Stumps Family Fun Bowls Night this evening. The event is a fundraiser for the McGrath Foundation organised by the Wondai Cricket Club, and it will kick off with a barbecue at 6:30pm, followed by night bowls at 7:00pm. There’ll also be a jumping castle on site to keep children amused. Tickets are $15 per head – which includes a burger – and there’ll be a bar onsite plus novelty prizes, a multi-draw raffle and a money board.
