Rail Trail Public Consultation Meeting - Murgon
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding a public consultation "open house" about the Kingaroy-Murgon Rail Trail on the footpath outside the bakery in Lamb Street, Murgon from 9:00am to 5:00pm today. The meeting will have some photos of the rail trail as it exists now, along with artist's conceptions of how it might look when it's developed, and everyone is welcome to come along, find out more, see ideas that some other very successful rail trails in Australia and New Zealand have put into practice, and contribute their own ideas about how this project should look and what it should do for the community. Coverty Creek Social Club Meeting
The Coverty Creek Comunity Development and Social Club will be holding its regular Friday night social gathering at the Red Shed at 198 Coverty Road, Coverty from 5:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. Greet, Eat & Meet - Yarraman
A "Greet, Meet & Eat" social function will be held at St Philip's Anglican Church Hall in Millar Street, Yarraman from 10:00am until around 1:00pm today. The group was formed in May 2012 to provide a safe place where locals from Yaraman, Blackbutt and Cooyar could get together, enjoy each other's company and meet others in a low-cost way, and it's met on the third Friday of each month ever since (except for December and January). Today's meeting will kick off at 10:00am with a cuppa and will be followed by a three-course lunch at 12:00 noon. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Friday Morning Bingo - Kingaroy
The Endeavour Foundation will be running bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be four jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help people with an intellectual disability. Everyone is welcome. More details? Blue Light Skating - Nanango

Two One Act Plays - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be debuting "Two One Act Plays" at the Nanango Playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets in Nanango at 7:00pm tonight (plays begin at 7:30pm). The NTC's latest production features a drama ("The Knock At The Door") and a comedy ("Stroke") and tickets - which include supper at intermission - are $20 for adults and $15 for pensioners or students. They can be purchased in advance from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street, Nanango, or at the door before each performance, if not sold out. Friday Night Poker - Kingaroy
Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy will be hosting Friday night poker games this evening. Registration starts at 6:30pm and the first cards are dealt at 7:00pm. A Karaoke Night with popular South Burnett entertainers Love2Sing will be held at the Warana Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late tonight - just perfect if you want to party on after a big day trackside at the nearby Wondai Anzac Day Races. An informal Country Music Night will be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Gipps Street, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight. The get-together is open to both spectators and performers, and the $2 entry fee includes supper. Everyone is welcome!
Squatters In The South Burnett - Nanango
Brisbane Valley Rail Trails will be hosting a gold coin donation wine and cheese evening at Ringsfield House at 45 Alfred Street. Nanango at 6:30pm this evening to launch a book by local historian Dr Judith Grimes. Her new work covers the early days of Queensland from the arrival of the first land proprietors in the South Burnett in 1841 through to the early 1860s. The book - "Squatters In The South Burnett: Their Lives And Times" - is the second in a series, and follows the 2013 launch of “Jacob Goode And His Burnett Inn”. Everyone is welcome!

South Burnett Pantry
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
