South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Chattanooga and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door draw. Blackbutt District Expo
The Blackbutt District Community Organisation will be hosting a free Blackbutt District Expo at the Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 10:00am to 3:00pm today. The Expo will showcase local Timbertowns community groups and the various activities they run or projects they're involved in - everything from sport and hobby groups through to the arts and SES volunteering. Everyone is welcome!
Kumbia Community Markets
The monthly Kumbia Community Markets will be running at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 7:00am to around noon this morning (set-up is from 6:00am). Railway Parkrun - Proston
The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Kilkivan Campdraft
The first day of the weekend-long annual Kilkivan Campdraft will be held at the Kilkivan Showgrounds at 66 Mudlo Road from 6:30am this morning until late tonight. Today's program will feature Maiden, Junior, Juvenile and Novice Drafts, followed by a Restricted Open under lights in the evening (tomorrow will see the finals of the Restricted Open Draft. Admission to the campdraft is free for spectators and there'll be a bar, live music and hot meals available in the grounds, along with a charity stallion auction. Camping sites are also available if you want to stay overnight. Everyone is welcome!
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Pig Out Night - Yarraman
Hungry? The Royal Hotel on the D'Aguilar Highway at Yarraman will be hosting a Pig Out Night from 6:00pm to 7:30pm this evening, followed by karaoke that will run until late. For just $20 per head for adults (or $15 for children aged 12-16), guests can tuck into a buffet of spit-roasted pork and chicken along with roast vegies, gravy, applesauce and dessert. Chinese Buffet - Cooyar
The Cooyar Hotel on the New England Highway at Cooyar will be holding an all you can eat Chinese buffet from 6:00pm tonight that will be offering fried rice, honey chicken, beef in black bean sauce, prawn crackers and more for $25 per head. The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Nathan Pursey - Kingaroy

Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 8:00am until around 1:00pm today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Yarraman Men's Shed

Saturday AFL - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Saints men's team will be playing at home at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today against University Cougars. This match will be the final game of the season for the Saints, and after what's turned out to be a disappointing season they'll be understandably keen to acquit themselves well and conclude on a high note. The match will get underway at 2:30pm along with a bar and canteen, and spectators are encouraged to come along and cheer the boys on.
Durong General Store Grand Opening
The Durong General Store & Cafe on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road at Durong will be holding a grand opening celebration for its newly-licensed cafe from 1:00pm this afternoon. Saturday Rugby League - Kingaroy
The latest round of the South Burnett's rugby league competition will be run at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today, kicking off with U6s to U12s junior games that will run across several fields between 9:00am and 12:00 noon. After this - at 12:20pm - Nanango will play Cherbourg in U14s, followed by a second U14s clash between Kingaroy and Murgon at 1:20pm. These matches will be followed by the first of today's A-grade games at 2:30pm, when Nanango's Stags take on the Murgon Mustangs in what promises to be an exciting match; and this will be followed by an equally high octane clash between Kingaroy's Red Ants and the formidable Wondai Wolves at 4:00pm. A canteen and bar will be running for the senior games and spectators are very welcome.
Saturday Night Football - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Islanders will play Kingaroy Easts at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy at 6:30pm tonight in the latest round of this year's frequently interrupted soccer competition. A canteen will be running and spectators are very welcome. Note: The third game in the round will be played at the same location this Wednesday night, August 17 at 6:30pm when the lady Panthers play Kingaroy Wests women.
