Back To School
The third term of the school year begins today and all school-age children attending State schools are required to return to class this morning. Term 3 will conclude on Friday, September 18 with a sixteen day Spring break. Motorists should take note that reduced speed limits around school grounds also begin to apply from today and they can face a steep fine for exceeding them - so drive slowly. Nanango SES Meeting
The Nanango SES will be holding their regular Monday night training session at the SES Building in George Street, Nanango from 7:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. Anyone from the Nanango district who's interested in joining the SES (or simply finding out more about what's involved) is very welcome to come along. More details? Jamie's Ministry Of Food - Cherbourg
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's Ministry Of Food and The Good Foundation will be starting the Ministry Of Food's 5-week cooking classes in their mobile kitchen outside Cherbourg Hospital all this week. The classes teach basic cooking skills in five weekly, 90 minute lessons and students get to leave each class with a delicious, freshly-cooked meal they can share with family or friends. Classes contain a maximum of 12 students and course fees are just $10. You can read more about the classes on our website and you can check out class times and how to book a place yourself on the Ministry Of Food website. Note: southburnett.com.au took the classes when the Ministry's mobile van was in Wondai last year, and we can say from personal experience they're great fun, well worth going to, and will improve anyone's ability in the kitchen.
Rising Stars Playgroup - Yarraman
The Yarraman Rising Stars Playgroup will be meeting at the Yarraman State School Meeting Room between 8:45am and 11:30am this morning. Children involved in the playgroup will get to enjoy a morning of indoor and outdoor play and fun; develop pre-reading and pre-writing skills; form strong relationships with other children; and transition to school more smoothly. If you're bringing your child along, you should also bring along morning tea, a water bottle, a hat, closwed-in shoes suitable for climbing and old clothes (sunscreen will be provided). Sing Australia Meeting - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy branch of the Sing Australia singing group will be holding their regular Monday night meeting at the Uniting Church Hall in Alford Street, Kingaroy (opposite Shoppingworld) from 7:00pm to around 9:00pm this evening. The group have a welcoming, inclusive and fun approach to singing and meet every Monday except for school and public holidays. Alcoholics Anonymous - Wondai
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experiences, strengths and hopes with each other to help solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership, and AA isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution.
