Remembrance Day

Today is Remembrance Day and a number of public services will be held throughout the South Burnett at 11:00am this morning to mark it. Everyone is welcome to attend these services to acknowledge the sacrifices made by our nation's servicemen and women in all the conflicts Australia has participated in. Today's Remembrance Day services will also mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War.
Blackbutt:
A service will be held at the Blackbutt War Memorial at the corner of Coulson and Hart Streets from 10:45am sharp. This will be followed by a Lions community sausage sizzle at Blackbutt RSL from noon.
Yarraman:
A service will be held at the Yarraman Cenotaph on the D'Aguilar Highway at 11:00am (wreath-layers should arrive prior to 10:45am).
Nanango:
A service will be held at the Nanango War Memorial from 11:00am this morning (assembly is at 10:45am).
Kingaroy:
Marchers will gather at the former croquet club lawn in Memorial Park at 10:15am and then march the short distance to the catafalque for the 11:00am service. Guest speaker will be former Kumbia resident Rear Admiral Brett Wolski. A special guest will be long-serving Kingaroy-Wooroolin RSL Sub-Branch secretary Doug Farmer OAM.
Wondai:
A service will be held outside the Wondai Town Hall at 11:00am this morning
Murgon:
A service will be held at the Murgon War Memorial on the corner of Lamb and Gore Streets between 10:45am and 11:05am. The service will be preceded by a parade which will assemble in the RSL club's car park at 10:15am before proceeding to the Cenotaph, and will be followed by a light lunch in the Diggers Room to which everyone is invited.
Cherbourg:
A service will be held at the Cherbourg War Memorial at 11:00am
Goomeri:
A service will be held at the Goomeri Memorial Clock in the heart of town at 11:00am (attendees should arrive no later than 10:45am)
Kilkivan:
A flag-raising ceremony will be held at the RSL Memorial Park at 11:00am
Boondooma:
A Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Boondooma Homestead from 10:00am
Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. New members who are interested in learning woodwork are always welcome and you can obtain more details by phoning Marcia on (07) 4170-0389
Murgon Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Diggers Day Stableford - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway south-west of Kingaroy will be holding its annual Diggers Day Stableford today, with tee-offs starting at 11:30am (but names in by 11:00am, please). Sunday Poker - Kingaroy

Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
