South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Cricket 4 Life - Kingaroy
A fun Cricket4Life day will be held at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 9:00am until late today as part of this year's Relay For Life fundraising drive for the Cancer Council Queensland. A grudge match between Team Ironpot (captained by Cr Scott Henschen) and Maidenwell (Cr Gavin Jones) will kick off a fun day of events. At 1:30pm, a T20 game featuring former Australian coach Darren Lehmann will be held between the South Burnett Bouncers and the Brisbane Bashers. There'll also be a barbecue, bar and live entertainment from 5:00pm with MISfITZ. Update: Qld captain Jimmy Peirson was a last-minute cancellation for this event after he was picked to play for Australia A in Sri Lanka.
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Mystique and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door draw. Robert Early - Kingaroy
Entertainer Robert Early will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
3rd Annual Drive-In Movie Night - Kingaroy
Taabinga State School P&C will be holding their 3rd Annual Drive-In Movie Night at the Kingaroy Machinery Club's grounds at Geoff Raph Drive near Kingaroy Airport from 4:30pm this evening. The event will screen the multi-award winning animated classic Minions (rated PG) at 5:30pm, followed by the popular adventure comedy Jumanji - The Next Level (rated PG) at 8:00pm. Family admission - with up to six people per car - is just $35 per car for either movie (or $60 per car for a double movie deal), but tickets must be booked online in advance before 4:00pm Saturday. This is a COVID Safe event and munchies and dagwood dogs can be pre-ordered when you book your tickets. All profits from the evening go to the school and everyone is welcome!
Kumbia Community Markets
The monthly Kumbia Community Markets will be running at Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, Kumbia from 7:00am to around noon this morning (set-up is from 6:00am). Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their workshop buildings at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for their regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am and continuing on until noon. Trivia Night - Manumbar
A Trivia Night will be held at Manumbar Hall at 3873 Manumbar Road in Manumbar from 6:00pm onwards tonight. Guests at this fun get-together will be treated to dinner, tea and coffee before play gets underway in tables of six. There'll be cash prizes for the winners as well as a Lucky Door prize and a prize for the best dressed table, but guests should BYO drinks and nibbles for game play, as well as dress warmly for the Winter weather. The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 8:00am until around 1:00pm today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.

Quilting Demonstration - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery's Winter Craft Festival will be running throughout June and July, and today artist Ruth Wagner will be discussing the art of quilting from 9:00am to 1:00pm to complement the two-month show. The Gallery is located in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) and there's no fee to view this year's Winter Craft Exhibition or Fran's paper making demonstration.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Cent Auction & Concert - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Chorale will be holding a combined Cent Auction And Concert at the Uniting Church Hall at the corner of Youngman and Alford Streets, Kingaroy this afternoon. Doors will open at 1:00pm and the cent auction will get underway at 2:00pm along with the concert. Admission is $15 - which includes a sheet of tickets - and further sheets are just $2 each. There'll be heaps of items up for grabs, along with lucky door prizes. Everyone is welcome!

The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Tagalong Tour - Pidna, Upper Yarraman And Yarraman
The Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association will be holding another one of their popular Tagalong Tours this morning. The tour will leave (via car pooling) from the Roy Emerson Museum in Hart Street, Blackbutt at 8:00am. Stops will include the Cooyar Creek bridges and railway sites around Cooyar Creek; Schultz's property, well and graves at Pidna; and Yarraman Weir. This will be followed by a morning tea Upper Yarraman Hall, then a visit to the Yarraman rail precinct and military fuel tanks before exploring parts of Yarraman Creek with the Friends Of Yarraman Creek team, and then a late lunch at Yarraman Park. The tour cost is $20 per person and bookings are essential to help plan the catering. You can make one by phoning the Museum on 0458-539-821, but there's no need to pay until Saturday.

South Burnett Sub-Chamber Finals - Blackbutt
The South Burnett's Show Societies will be holding their 2022 Sub-Chamber Finals at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt at 6:00pm tonight. Guests at this licensed, semi-formal dinner will get to meet the local finalists for this year's Miss Showgirl, Rural Ambassador and Dark Rich Fruit Cake competitions, along with the winners who'll go on to represent the South Burnett at this year's Ekka. Note: Because the Blackbutt Show had to be cancelled at the last minute due to wet weather, the Sub-Chamber Ute Finals weren't held as planned. Saturday Rugby League - Cherbourg
The South Burnett's rugby league competition will shift to the north today, with all games played at Jack O'Chin Oval in Broadway Street, Cherbourg. Mini-Mods games for U6s and junior games for U8s, U10s and U12s will be played from 8:00am until around 2:30pm. And after this there'll be two U14s matches - Murgon vs Cherbourg at 2:45pm and then Kingaroy vs Chinchilla at 3:45pm. After this, the first of the day's two A-grade games will get underway at 4:45pm when the in-form Wondai Wolves play Nanango's Stags. This will be followed by a second A-grade clash at 6:00pm when Cherbourg's Hornets take on Kingaroy's Red Ants in what promises to be a highly entertaining match. A canteen will be operating in the grounds all day supplying hot foods, water and soft drinks and snacks and everyone is welcome!
