South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
BBQ & Boogie - Blackbutt
Blackbutt will be celebrating Queensland Day (which fell on June 6) with a big "BBQ & Boogie" day at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road all day today. From 11:00am to around 2:00pm they'll be holding a "Live & Local" session where local musicians and performers while provide the entertainment while guests chow down on a great free lunch and soft drinks. This will be followed from 2:00pm to 6:00pm by an afternoon dance with Sunshine Coast band "The Rockin' Bodgies", a best-dressed Rock & Rollers competition, plus more free food and soft drinks (a licensed cash bar will also be operating). Everyone is welcome and thanks to the State Government, admission is free too!
Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets offer locally-made crafts, foods and produce and are always an interesting Sunday morning out. New stall-holders are always welcome too! More details? Wondai Sprints
The second (and final) day of the weekend-long Wondai Sprints sprint car races will be held at the Wondai Industrial Estate off the Bunya Highway just north of Wondai's CBD today. Race time trials will be held from 9:00am to 3:00pm, and there'll also be a Show and Shine held on the sports oval adjacent to the racetrack, with judging take place between 9:00am and 12:30pm and trophy presentations at 1:00pm. Over a hundred entrants have nominated for the Sprints in classes including historic, touring cars, sports sedans, racing cars and special interest, and food and drink will be available in the grounds. A one-day pass for spectators is $15, but under 14s are free.
Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Open Mic Afternoon At The Palace - Nanango
The Palace Hotel at 77 Drayton Street in Nanango will be holding an Open Mic Jam Session from 2:00pm to around 6:30pm this afternoon, hosted by Mr Q. Anyone is welcome to put their name up on the blackboard and - when their turn comes - perform up to 25 minutes of originals or covers. All PAs, guitars and drums will be provided by Mr Q. There'll also be a BBQ raising money for Beyond Blue and Ride for Life if you get peckish. Everyone is welcome along for a great afternoon of live music and family fun! More details? Timbertowns Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Nanango Kennel Club Obedience Trial
The Nanango & District All Breeds Kennel Club will be holding the second (and final) day of their weekend-long Obedience Trial at the Nanango Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango from 8:00am to around 1:00pm today. The competition is open to dogs registered with Dogs Queensland, but members of the public are welcome to come along and see the dogs show their obedience and Rally O skills. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Tarot Card Workshop - Blackbutt
Studio 4 in Coulson Street, Blackbutt will be holding a beginners level Tarot Card Workshop at 1:00pm this afternoon. Workshop fees are $35 per head, which includes 2 information booklets containing the meanings and the symbols within the cards; 2 handy cheat sheets; 1 scroll and 1 white candle.
