South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Intrust Super Cup - Kingaroy
An Intrust Super Cup rugby league match will be held at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today - and if you're a league fan this one is a must-see. Gates will open at 10:30am and the first local A-grade match of the day - between the Kingaroy Red Ants and the Wondai Wolves - will kick off at 11:45am. This will be followed by an U8s match between the juniors from Kingaroy, Cherbourg, Murgon and Nanango before the Intrust Super Cup clash between Wynnum and Tweed teams at 2:00pm. Following this, the second A-grade clash of the day - between the Murgon Mustangs and the Cherbourg Hornets - will be held at 4:15pm. Entry to the grounds is $10 and a bar and canteen will be operating.
Golfing Fundraiser For Jacqui Beitzel - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt Golf Club in Bowman Road, Blackbutt will be holding a Charity Golf Day from 8:00am onwards this morning as as fundraiser for Jacqui Beitzel, the Blackbutt teenager badly injured in a horse-riding accident recently. Today's event will be a 4-person ambrose, and players can register from 8:00am for a 9:00am start. Green fees are $20 per person and there'll be a BBQ before and after the event. Kilkivan Sunday Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. Murgon RC Club Fun Day - Murgon
The Murgon RC Club for radio-controlled cars will be holding a Fun Day at their racetrack next to Angelfield Aerodrome at the end of Macalister Street, Murgon from 10:00am to 2:00pm today (drive w-a-y past the Showgrounds along the dirt road and through the gate marked "Private Property"). Competitors can race their cars around the circuit as much as they like, and there'll be a BBQ lunch and soft drinks available too. Spectators are more than welcome to come along for free, but to take part in the racing you'll need to be a PCYC member ($30 per year for an adult or $60 per family - you can join up on site today) and the fee for racing is $10. Brass Band Concert - Wondai
The Wondai and District Band and Letterbox Brass, one of Australia's leading brass quartets, will be holding a concert at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street, Wondai at 1:30pm this afternoon. Letterbox Brass have been running a workshop and master class for brass instrument players in the South Burnett this weekend, and today's concert will show the results. Murgon CBD Markets
The monthly Murgon Markets will be held in Lamb Street in the heart of Murgon from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The South Burnett Darts Association will be holding their regular Sunday afternoon Pot Luck Doubles darts competitions from 11:00am to 4:00pm at their premises at Shed 1, 18 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. A $10 playing fee applies, but that includes a great BBQ lunch. Wondai Uniting Church 100 Years Celebrations
The Wondai Uniting Church at 56-58 Pring Street in Wondai is celebrating its centenary today with a Meet & Greet and morning cuppa from 9:00am, and then a special service commencing at 10:00am. The Uniting Church - formerly the Wondai Methodist Church - has a long and proud association with the town, and anyone with past connections to the church or who would like to share is very welcome to come along and help celebrate this special occasion.
