Blackbutt History Morning
The Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association will be holding a History Morning at Nukku Nook opposite the skate park in Hart Street, Blackbutt from 9:30am to around 12:00 noon this morning. The focus of this month's meeting will be guest speaker (and former Nanango Shire Mayor) Reg McCallum who'll be sharing his recollections of life in the area. Friday Social Golf - Kingaroy
- The Kingaroy Golf Club on the Bunya Highway at Kingaroy will holding their regular Friday 9-ers 9 hole social golfing sessions for men and women from 8:00am until dusk today. Everyone is most welcome (including non-members) and green fees are $11 for members or $14 for non-members for the nine holes - but this also includes a card draw for prizes in the clubhouse in the evening (there's also a Jackpot card draw on the last Friday of each month). Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Art Gallery at 128 Haly Street (opposite the peanut silos) will be opening their July exhibition at 6:00pm this morning. The centrepiece of this month's exhibition will be "Colour For Walls" by South Burnett artist ANON (Lee Brewer), while Gallery 2 will be showcasing landscapes and portraits by Ces Small from the South Burnett Regional Council's permanent collection; Gallery 3 will be showing paintings and sculpture by David Bryce (also from Council's collection); and students from Taabinga State School will be displaying a range of their own artworks in the Youth Gallery. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Note: After this morning's opening the exhibitions will remain on display from 9:00am to 4:30pm on weekdays and 10:00am to 4:00pm on weekends until Friday, July 31.
Wondai & District Garden Club Meeting
- The Wondai & District Garden Club will be holding their monthly meeting at Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 9:30am onwards this morning (when the meeting will kick off with a morning tea). Country Music Night - Nanango
- An informal Country Music Night will be held at the Uniting Church Hall in Gipps Street, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight. The get-together is open to both spectators and performers, and the $2 entry fee includes supper. Everyone is welcome!
Friday Night Sax - Wondai
The South Burnett's very own "Sultan Of Sax" Tom McKenzie will be playing at the Wondai Hotel & Cellars in Haly Street, Wondai from 6:00pm until late tonight. - The Endeavour Foundation will be running bingo games at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). Coverty Creek Social Club Meeting
- The Coverty Creek Community Development and Social Club will be holding its regular Friday night social gathering at the Red Shed at 198 Coverty Road, Coverty from 5:00pm until around 10:00pm tonight. South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
- The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
