South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Sprints
The first day of the weekend-long Wondai Sprints sprint car races will be held at the Wondai Industrial Estate off the Bunya Highway just north of Wondai's CBD today. Race time trials will be held from 9:00am to 4:30pm, and there'll be food and merchandise stands on site. More than a hundred entrants have nominated for the Sprints in classes including historic, touring cars, sports sedans, racing cars and special interest. A one-day pass for spectators is $15 (or $25 for both days) but under 14s can get in for free.
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Nanango Kennel Club Obedience Trial
The Nanango & District All Breeds Kennel Club will be holding the first day of their weekend-long Obedience Trial at the Nanango Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango from 3:00pm to around 8:00pm this afternoon and evening. The competition is open to dogs registered with Dogs Queensland, but members of the public are welcome to come along and see the dogs show their obedience and Rally O skills. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held on the second Saturday of every month. Women In Agriculture Day - Kilkivan
BIEDO and BMRG will be holding a free Women In Agriculture Day at Kilkivan Hall in Bligh Street at Kilkivan from 8:30am to 3:00pm today. A variety of informative guest speakers will be talking during the get-together, and morning tea and lunch will be provided at no cost. There will also be time to network and socialise, and various trade stands with an agricultural theme will be on hand, as well as an on-site coffee van. Everyone is welcome! More details? Nanango Heritage Endurance Ride
The South Burnett Endurance Riders Association will be holding their annual two-day Nanango Heritage Endurance Ride today and tomorrow. Riders should assemble at the club's grounds on Racecourse Road, Nanango this morning for departure. More details? Phone Ruth on 0417-764-199.
Nanango Stamp Club Meeting
The Nanango Stamp Club will be holding its second Saturday of the month meeting at Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango from 10:00am onwards this morning, followed by lunch for those who'd like to stay on for a bite afterwards. A special feature of today's meeting will be the annual Mid-Year Auction where members can put any excess philatelic or numismatic items up for bids. The club is the South Burnett's sole affiliated member of the Queensland Philatelic Council and promotes the hobby of stamp collecting in our region. It meets on the second Saturday morning of each month, and anyone interested in stamp collecting is very welcome to come along for a fun morning out with fellow collectors. More details? Barkers Creek Challenge - Nanango
The Nanango Golf Club on the D'Aguilar highway north of Nanango will be running their annual Barkers Creek Challenge from 10:30am today. The Challenge is a single stableford competition between Nanango and Kumbia golf club members and there'll be a shotgun start at 11:00am. More details? Phone the golf club on (07) 4163-1463.
Saturday Soccer - Wondai and Kingaroy
The South Burnett's 2017 soccer season will hold its eighth round in Wondai and Kingaroy today. In Wondai, home team Barambah will play Gunners at the Wondai Soccer Fields off the Bunya Highway just north of Wondai Sportsgrounds (entry today is via the Wondai Bowls and Golf Course gate, because of the Wondai Sprints) with 2nd Division hitting the park at 12:30pm, Women's Division at 2:00pm and 1st Division at 3:15pm. And in Kingaroy, Wests will play Nanango at Tom Alford Oval in Oliver Bond Street, with 2nd Division kicking off at 2:00pm, Women's Division at 3:30pm and 1st Division under lights at 5:00pm. Admission to view the matches is free, and a canteen will be running at both venues. Spectators are very welcome!
RACQ LifeFlight Sausage Sizzle - Kingaroy
A sausage sizzle to raise funds for RACQ LifeFlight will be held outside the Mitre 10 store in Rogers Drive, Kingaroy from 8:30am this morning. A hamper with products and services donated by SG's Hair, Blooms The Chemist, Coppards Menswear, Toyworld Kingaroy, the Carrollee Hotel and Harvey Norman will also be raffled off today, too.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding their Saturday meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.

DJ Rach will be providing entertainment at the Wondai Wolves clubhouse at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of the CBD from 5:00pm until late tonight. Admission is free.
