Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2020 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting the 23rd annual South Burnett Regional Art Competition, which showcases works in art, photography, sculpture and ceramics categories created exclusively by South Burnett artists. The competition offers $8000 in prize monies, including a $3000 South Burnett Acquisitive sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council, and is the biggest art competition of its kind in the region. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from a South Burnett winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Cowgirls Gathering - Kilkivan
The first day of the inaugural 3-day Cowgirls Gathering will be held at the Kilkivan Equestrian Centre at Kilkivan Showgrounds in Mudlo Road, Kilkivan, kicking off with a line dancing class at 5:00pm and followed by a welcome party that will run from 6:00pm to around 10:00pm. This event will feature three days of equestrian competitions, demonstrations, classes and clinics, but the majority of these will be held on the weekend. On-site camping and glamping options are also available if you want to stay over. Spectator tickets are free today, but tomorrow and Sunday they'll set you back $75 to $100 per day. Line Dancing - Yarraman
Weekly line dancing classes will be held the Community Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman from 9:00am to noon this morning. Class fees are $5 and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone 0422-889-530.
Cooyar Campdraft
The first day of the three-day Cooyar Campdraft will be held at the Cooyar Showgrounds in Rangemore Road, Cooyar from 5:30am this morning until late in the afternoon. This year's campdraft is being run later than usual due to the pandemic and is expected to draw a very big roll-up. Today's action will feature the first and second rounds of the $3800 Sullivan Livestock Open Draft and the $1600 Oakey Beef Exports Maiden 4 Maiden Draft. Entry to the campdraft is 100% free for spectators, and there'll also be a bar and canteen running as well as plenty of campsites available in the Showgrounds if you want to stay over. Under 8s Day In The Park - Kingaroy
An Under 8s Day The Park for young children and their carers will be held at Memorial Park in Haly Street, Kingaroy from 9:30am to 12:30pm this morning. The event has been organised by South Burnett Partnerships For Kids and will feature a free sausage sizzle, lots of games and activities for small children, and community group activities, discussions, service displays and giveaways for adults. There's no admission and all parents and children are welcome.
U14s South Burnett Cricket Trials - Nanango
Trials for the Under 14s South Burnett cricket team will be held from 4:00pm afternoon at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango. The trials are for all eligible players born between the September 1, 2007, to August 31, 2009. More details? Email SBCA Junior Cricket
Kingaroy RSL Bingo

Friday Social Golf - Proston
The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. Popular South Burnett duo Tucker & Chop will be performing in the bistro at the Carrollee Hotel in King Street, Kingaroy from 6:30pm until late tonight, serving up their toe-tapping mix of classic blues and funky pop. Queensland State Gliding Competition - Kingaroy
CANCELLED: The Kingaroy Soaring Club will be hosting the 2021 Gliding Queensland State Competition from September 25 to October 1 at Kingaroy Airport. There are approximately 30 entries across 3 different classes of gliders competing in this year's event, with a high class field of entrants, some of whom have represented Australia at the World Gliding level. Kingaroy residents may notice additional glider activity over the airport and around the region during this period.
Open Mic Night At The Palace - Nanango
CANCELLED: The Palace Hotel in Fitzroy Street, Nanango will be hosting an Open Mic Night with the Mr Q Acoustic Duo from 7:30pm until late tonight. All equipment is supplied - just bring your voice and/or instrument - and there's no admission. The Palace's kitchen will also be open if you want dinner beforehand or a snack during. More details? South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
