2017 Wondai Show
The first day of the two-day 100th Wondai Show will be held at Wondai Showgrounds in Baynes Street, Wondai from early this morning through until late tonight (the gates will open to the public at 9:00am). As usual, most of the activities will be given over to judging this year's pavilion exhibits and the Burnett Kennel Club's annual 3-day Championship Dog Show - the Show's main public day is tomorrow. But at 5:00pm the Show's traditional Stud Beef Young Judges and Paraders Competition will be run. A licensed bar and BBQ will also be operating and the public are most welcome to come along to today's Show activities for free. More details? Contact the Wondai Visitor Information Centre on (07) 4168-5652 (or send them an email).
QRRRWN Barambah Branch Meeting
The Barambah branch of the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women's Network will be holding their first Friday of the month meeting today. The branch meets at a different venue each month, starting with smoko at 9:30am before the meeting gets underway at 10:00am. New members and guests are always welcome! More details on the location of this month's meeting? Phone Marg on 0418-689-728 or send her an email.
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition for 2017 with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting three separate exhibitions: artist Zane Stuart in the main gallery; artist Helen Blythman in the front gallery; and the South Burnett Cake Decorators Association in the rear gallery. Children from Taabinga State School will also be mounting a mini exhibition of their own in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature great hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Crane's Winery, live entertainment and lots of fun socialising. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the Gallery on (07) 4168-5926. Note: After tonight's opening the exhibition will remain on show from 10:00am to 4:00pm daily until the end of the month. Note: Due to an unexpected last-minute cancellation, a photography exhibition that was due to be unveiled tonight has been deferred; Zane Stuart's quirky exhibition will continue for a second month in its place.
